Your last sentence can lead to all sorts of discrimination and oppression, though. If the majority of the white southerners that were against desegregation were able to set their own laws in that way, for example, blacks in some counties in states l…

So I think my favorite Christmas memory is from when we got our Playstation, yeeeeeears ago. It started a whole new tradition of sitting around and playing video games together as a family all day on Christmas instead of everybody going off and doin…

That's sweet. Could we turn this into a "favorite holiday memories"-type deal so you have something fun to come back to? So long as people don't go, "Well, I'm insulted, I'm not Christian!" anyway...

What Kind of Nerdfighter Are You?
Eclectic
About Me:
I earned a B.A. in Politics with a minor in History in May 2008 (I wrote a forty-plus page thesis comparing Stoicism and Utilitarianism). I'm taking two years off to study for and take the standardized tests I need to apply to the graduate programs I'm looking into (law and public policy) and then apply to said programs. But I have a job as a Para-Educator (basically an aid) in a special education classroom, so it isn't like I'll just be farting around the whole time. And I'm not even living with my parents, fancy that! I'm pretty open and like learning and hearing about any and everything, but politics and civil rights are big passions of mine. I have eclectic tastes, as demonstrated by my playlist. I like debate, but only when it's productive and civil and about the ideas and not the people. I hate cancer. I'm Native American, although I don't look it upon first glance because my hair and skin are light. Uh... I really dislike these "about me" sort of things... My blog is just that, a blog, so if you don't agree with what I say, that's fine, just don't be a jerk about it; and also keep in mind that it's sometimes written in the throws of emotion or in the midst of a long thought, so if I ramble or rant, and if that bothers you, don't read. Otherwise, comment and what-have-you as much as you like.
Favorite Books, Movies, Music, and more
I guess I'll list some (and in no particular order): The Last Unicorn (Peter S. Beagle); White Mare's Daughter (Judith Tarr); Sabriel (Garth Nix-- and the others weren't as good); His Dark Materials series (Phillip Pullman); The Odessey and Iliad (Homer); Histories (Heroditus); The Twelve Caesars (Suetonius); Meditations (Marcus Aurelius); Second Treatise on Government (John Locke); Utilitarianism and On Liberty (John Stuart Mill); The Belgariad and The Malloreon (David Eddings); Limbo (Alfred Lubrano); The Stranger (Albert Camus); The Crooked Timber of Humanity and Four Essays (Isaiah Berlin); Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal (Christopher Moore); and yeah... lots lots more.

UP YOURS, LOSER!! Yay Al Franken

PWNED!!!!

I totally love how Lieberman seems completely shocked. I hope this is an indicator of how the rest of the Senate is going to start acting- meaning I hope they all treat him like the douche he is. Continue

Jedi Are Lame

This piece was inspired by a conversation I had at a sci-fi convention. First of a couple.

Admittedly, I haven’t played any of the video games, but even from watching the movies, I can point out one important difference between Sith and Jedi that basically pounds game-players over the head: Sith operate offensively, while Jedi operate defensively. This is why so many of them died at the hands of Anakin. And this comes from the two divergent philosophies of each camp, as well as the balan… Continue

I'm feeling lots better, but have been really busy. I love your video on the war on work by the way. Totally worth the 20 minutes, or however long it is.

It was a National Review article which was so credible that it talked about Anita Dunn praising Mao (hence the clarification of the quote).

Sanity is for the weak... ;)

And don't worry, I haven't talked to you in ages either. I can understand you not wanting to spend all your time on the computer (even though I do it...) and I definently see the importance in you getting your application properly done. You focus on that until it's done and don't worry about me. I won't fall apart when you're not looking. :) I hope you won't either.

Actually the different Loyola schools are not affiliated with one another. It's a common misconception. They are named after the same saint but they have nothing to do with one another. I go to the LA Loyola (which is the best one in my opinion).

Yeah the who application process pretty much sucks. I was bitter that no only did I have to register with the LSDAS but I had to pay them for each application they sent out materials with.

Things with me are good. School has kept me really busy but I've managed to have some fun and hung out with Molly when time/us being in the same state permits it. I went to this yesterday with Molly: http://www.paulandstorm.com/gigs/w00tstock/ it was pretty awesome. All and all life is not too bad.
