Our Carbon Footprint

After watching some of the older videos by Hank and John, I decided to calculate our carbon footprint. For a family of four, we are doing pretty good, compared to the average. But we are triple what the world needs us to be at. The average household consumes a little more than 20t. We consume close to 7t.
My question is, what can I do, and teach my children to do, to get that down to the 2t that the world needs us to be.
Thoughts?
