This Machine Kills Fascists
This machine kills fascists. This machine is not a gun. This machine is not a weapon of any kind. This machine is not, God forbid, even a dairy product. This machine was a guitar, owned by folk singer Woody Guthrie in the 1930s and 40s. For me it is a symbol of peaceful protest in the face of the extreme right. Rain
It was raining but I had decided not to care. I let the raindrops hit my face and drip off the end of my nose with no attempt whatsoever to keep dry. I was cold, wet and shivering in my thin jacket and my bag was getting soaked through. Still, I stood there stubbornly; waiting. I refused to let this abysmal weather have any effect on me. Short story
A whirlwind danced wildly around us throwing debris in every direction possible. People were screaming and police sirens were flashing and whining. Everything was chaos. There was the sickly smell of blood polluting the air leaving no room to breathe; it clung horribly to the entire street. The wind was a clear and icy cold, chilling to the very bone. - i used to never sing. then i was inspired and wrote some. then i would sing a little at the ranch. it was nice. that has been awhile.
i make recordings of live shows and band rehearsals. i try to show each artist that they probably have access to enough equipment to make recordings on their own.
do you use audacity ? it is a good open source recording software. any microphone will do in the beginning. or- you can use an adapter to plug instruments into the sound card

Hannah said… - Ugh, I know! Those fangirls make me homicidal. And I cant stand being lumped in with them. I miss the days when the books were this secret little gem that no one knew about.
And Belinda actually nothing like Lolita (though I love that book as well), its not nearly as depressing and Belinda actually wants to be with the painter, unlike Lolita who did it out of desperation. And admittedly...and don't kill me for this...I've seen both versions of Lolita and I like the Adrian Lyne one better. Mostly just because it was able to stay truer to the book because they didn't have to worry about the censors. Both the movies have their pros and cons over one another and are both really great.
I think it would DEFINITELY be epic if Burton did a remake of 1984, it will be interesting to see how he handles it. And I definitely agree with making your own judgements about movies. Plus, as a reviewer you have to see all kinds of movies, movies you wouldnt necessarily see if you werent getting paid for it, and it depends on what kind of mood you are in that day. If you aren't in the mood for the movie you are reviewing, you probably arent going to like it much.

- Well, I love the Twilight books and I do like Jackson Rathbone, but the Twilight movie and its counterparts makes me angry lol. I wont go on and on about it since you like it, I'll just leave it at that. And you definitely should check out Belinda, its gorgeous. Its about a 40 year old painter who falls in love with a 16 year old runaway.
I completely trust Burton with Alice, she is in truly capable and understanding hands. I also cry like a baby when watching Brokeback...but I am so excited for Taking Woodstock, Ang Lee can handle anything. I realllllly want to see it right now, but I promised my friend I would wait until she gets back from NYC. Anyway, my favorites would have to be: Interview with a Vampire, Romeo + Juliet (I love just about every version, but '96 will always be my favorite), The Nightmare Before Christmas, Marie Antoinette, Stealing Beauty, Summer Storm and The Virgin Suicides. God, there are so many more though! I hate choosing lol

- Mmm...I lean more towards Opheliac as well because I too have a little emo kid in me. I haven't heard of her Jane Brooks Project but I will DEFINITELY check it out. Have you listened to her poetry reading cd "Your Sugar Sits Untouched"? When I first read the title I thought it said Your Sugar Tits Untouched. I have a dirty mind, what can I say. Have you ever read Belinda? A very different Anne Rice, with no magic whatsoever but its my second favorite of hers.
And yes, definitely a movie buff. I love, no adore, Tim Burton as well. So FUCKING excited for Alice in Wonderland. I'm also an Alice in Wonderland buff, I'm obsessed with all things having to do with it. Other favorite directors would have to be, Sofia Coppola, Bernardo Bertolucci, Ang Lee, Gus van Sant and Kevin Smith. Just to name a few. So onto actual films, what are your top...lets pick a random number, 7?

I have quite the affair with Anne Rice as well. I just finished reading Pandora for the first time and it was AMAZING. Going on my top five for her for sure. Haha well this is the end of this ramble.
