They don't, and I suppose Hinduism's ideology, that we (man and animal, alike) are but actors in a cosmic drama (though let's ignore that Hinduism as a belief system lacks any form of compassion inherent in its beliefs). What this means is that we are no more highly evolved than another creature, but merely differently evolved to suit a different niche; a different role.
