hahaha

That guitar fiasco sounds a LOT like what happened with my brother, only hopefully it'll have a happier ending. My brother took his bike to high school one day--and I mean it, only one day--, and since he's utterly brilliant and never uses a lock and chain, it got stolen. So what does he do when he goes off to college and wants a bike? He takes MY bike to college, without asking, and also gets MY bike stolen.

The freak. Your sister and my brother would probably get along really well. hahaha

Don't tell my ukelele, but I want to learn guitar, too. In fact, guitar was my Plan A, back when I thought I'd have an in-state job over the summer. Now that I'll be having a job in NH, and I'll have to leave for NH within a week of coming home, I realized I'd rather have something I can *easily* take with me on a plane, and maybe even on backpacking trips or whatever. hehe

As for the first song I want to learn on the ukelele, well, I'm not sure. I figure I'll just start with one of the FOUR uke-learning books I got, and go from there... I'm thinking the first song I want to perform for anyone on ukelele would be probably Guantanamera at this point. It changes depending on the mood I'm in when you ask me. hehe

Yeah, camp jobs totally pwn all other jobs to death. All other jobs. To death. They're crazy fun. Crazy. Fun. hahaha

I LOVE working at camps. One of my dreams in life is to run a summer camp where kids from all over the world can come and learn things and play and have fun, and realize how big and how small the world truly is, and that people aren't different because they come from India or from Kazakhstan or from Ghana....

But now I'm getting mushy. :^P

I'm actually in Spain at the moment, until the end of May. Wow, that's this month already! My, how the time flies.

Been here since late September, teaching English to little kiddles.

At the end of May, I'll be heading to Shevegas for a while, and by "a while" I mean, less than a week, in all likelihood. My flight home gets there June 1st in the evening, and I have to leave for New Hampshire for my summer job on June 4th or 5th, so that's not much time. We're looking at changing my flight to the twenty-eighth or something like that, so I can have more time with my peeps back home, but we don't have much more wiggle room than that.

So, yeah. Things are looking tight in between jobs...and all this'll be hittin' the fan in like three weeks, so we'll find out soon just how much time I'll have and with whom. haha

Sigh. It's a really good summer job, though, and I'm quite looking forward to it. I'll be an Adventure Counselor/Waterfront Specialist (TWO job titles, that's what I'm talking about!) at Boston University's Sargent Center for Outdoor Education. Woohoooooo! I'm super excited.

PLUS I'll be getting to play with my ukelele, which as yet have no experience doing at all. I bought it like two weeks ago on-line, and it's waiting for me in Sheboygan when I get home. I wanted something I could take with me easily to New Hampshire. So, yeah. haha I'm a dork. It was going to be a guitar originally, but that was like three months ago, when I thought I'd have a job at my old camp in Plymouth. Oh, well. A uke's cuter anyway. XD

Wow, this has been a freakishly long message. Forgive me. But this is what you get for asking where I live. haha The story of my life. bwa hahaha

m00t,
Nate

PS: Let me be polite and return the question. You're in Madison, right? :^P

All right, two more schnazzy little blurbs, just 'cause I love the book so much I can't help myself.

“A satirical adventure story about two scoundrels, one of whom has a violent dislike of the letter ‘O,’ and a search for buried treasure.” –Sam Zolotow, The New York Times

“No one else could think up a fairy story, tale, legend, exercise or what have you, based upon ‘O’ alone. Certainly no one else could bring it off if he had. Mr. Thurber, however, can, did, and does. No more worthy ‘O’ words could go before The Wonderful O than another O Wonderful.” –Lewis Nichols, The New York Times

It's fiction, and about fiction (or mostly fictional characters) and the power of literature and stories.

It's a magnificent book. Very playful, very lyrical, very nerdy. It's a splendid thing. I LOVE IT!

I would still have a copy, but I loved it so much I gave it to an Italian who speaks like twelve languages, so she could have a great book in English to read. hehe She loved it, naturally. :P I haven't seen it since! :^o

I'll have to get myself another copy someday...

Enjoy! If I remember correctly, it's a super-short book, too, so don't put it off too long. You could read it in an evening or so if you wanted to.

“Excellent Thurber. Besides being a highly original fairy tale and a rollicking linguistic gambol, The Wonderful O is a still further fable for our time–perhaps the best and most serious that Thurber has written.” –New York Herald Tribune Book Review

Peace out, and
