What Kind of Nerdfighter Are You?: I am an opera-and-jazz singing, book-loving, renaissance woman of a nerdfighter.

About Me:: I recently graduated college with my bachelor's and have been wandering sort of aimlessly since then. Recently, after becoming aware of nerdfighteria, I realized I had, in fact, forgotten to be awesome. Now I'm seeking atonement and change by trying to be more awesome than ever before.

Favorite Books, Movies, Music, and more: Books: Almost anything by Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman, Jim Butcher, or Susanna Clarke. I'm a pretty avid reader, although I'm sad to report I've never read anything by John Green. "The Fault in our Stars" will be my first of his books.
Graphic Novels & Manga: The Sandman, Yotsubato! Watchmen
Movies: Spirited Away, Millenium Actress, Secondhand Lions, Star War IV-VI, Harry Potter (esp. 3 and 5)
Music: Oh, crap, you had to ask. Florence + the Machine, Ella Fitzgerald, anything by Gian Carlo Menotti, likewise Verdi and Puccini, Tchaikovsky's 5th Symphony, Pines of Rome by Ottorino Respighi, the Egmont Overture by Beethoven. John Williams scores. NOT MOZART.

What's your favorite thing to put on your head?: Probably my Katamari Damacy hat? Although shampoo runs a close second...

If you could do your happy dance with anyone who would it be with?: At the risk of sounding sappy, it would be with my dad, because that would mean he'd be alive to dance with.

A Woman's Power

I watched two movies this past week: Bridesmaids, which is still out at the cheap theater, and Columbiana, which I believe just started showing. These movies don't have much in common; one's a raunchy send up of marriage and female life in general, and the other's a filmy froth of action movie cliches. I came out of Columbiana today thinking about what it means, in life and in film, to be a strong woman.

Evil characters, general noobishness, and nerdiness abounding

My first blog on any new site always talks about noobishness, my general nerdiness, and a desire to actually keep up with a blog. Well, take that as said, note that I make no promises regarding further blogs, and on to the meat of the post.
