Rachel Caine ~love~ her books!

I was wondering if there was anyone else here who'd read any Rachel Caine books.  She has the Morganville Vampire series (check my blog for the link) (link to my blog:…Continue

What Kind of Nerdfighter Are You?
I am a librarian, faerie lover, Harry Potter lover, young adult fantasy lit junkie Nerdfighter.
What Be Your Nerd Type?
Your Result: Drama Nerd

You sure do love the spotlight and probably have a very out-going and loud personality. Or not. That's just a stereotype, of course. Participation in the theatre is something to be very proud of. Whether you have a great voice for musicals, or astounding skills for dramas/comedies; keep up the good work. We need more entertainment these days that isn't television and video games (not that these things are bad, necessarily.)

About Me:
I want to get a Masters of Library Sciences so I'm currently majoring in English. I read a ton of books, mostly modern young adult fantasy or sci-fi. I have 4 cats. I'm a total and complete dork. I'm also very tall.... no correlation... well, okay, I also have a friend who is a dork... and extremely short... Maybe there's a correlation about short and tall friends being dorks? I don't know, correlation is just a fun word to say.
Favorite Books, Movies, Music, and more
I have too many books (that I absolutely love) to mention on here but I will name a few authors. John Green is a new favorite, Madeleine L'Engle, J.K. Rowling, Rachel Caine, Rachelle Mead, Christopher Pike, and one book title: Rampant. I love the Hitchhikers Guide to the galaxy book and movie too but I have yet to read further into the series. I also have a ton of varied movie interests and music interests. Music especially is random - Ballroom Blitz is like my anthem! -ish. I love Aerosmith! okay, 70s, 80s, 90s, and top 40 lists lol
What's your favorite thing to put on your head?
on my head... underwear? no.. I wear my bra on my head more commonly... as well as a tutu-> (see pictures)
If you could do your happy dance with anyone who would it be with?
Sarah Weiss, teen/childrens librarian at my local library and all-around AWESOME person with different hair colors all the time... its blue right now :)

Many Happy Returns hen – hope you get this in time, although it must be nearing midnight in the US and if tonight is Homecoming and you’ve turned 21…well, I’ll give to a few days to recover before I hear back from you. =p
I’ve added you on Facebook, so you never know; maybe one day soon we’ll get to talk in real time! XD
And yes, I’ve missed my American friend too. =p
I’m sorry you’re feeling a tad under the weather, but still, it sounds like you’re having a fantastic night. And why the hell not; you don’t turn 21 every day, after all. Go crazy. XP
How are your studies going? My postgrad is all kinds of fun – we’re going to be given a ‘backstage’ tour of the London 2012 Olympic Site on Wednesday, and (fingers crossed) we’ll be talking with Karl “the K man, head like an effing Orange” Pilkington before Christmas!!
The script DOES look pretty cool; I’m giving it yet another last check over, then I’m sending it to Bethesda. Tell you what, when they love the script so much that they call me out to Maryland to see them, I’ll hop on a Greyhound and come say hi. =)
“Hen” is actually a Scottish term – my paternal Grandfather was a Scot, and I picked up a few words when I spent a summer in Glasgow a few years back. We do use ‘hun’ in England – I suppose the meaning is much the same, I just prefer ‘hen.’ =)
I know, to my eternal shame – I mean, I’m sure I’ve had tea, scones and jam on separate occasions, but never as one meal. And hell yes, if you ever make it to the UK, we’ll go to Tiny Tim’s Tearoom (a little, supposedly haunted place in Canterbury) and be ultra-British. XD
Ah – I was the Master of the Steve Irwin impression in my youth. I can just imagine some wild trek through the jungle hunting stray Potter cast members, armed with large nets and a couple of ice cream cornets. And don’t worry, I won’t read too much into the “Rupert Grint in a Loincloth/Let’s move in closer…” comment. Honestly, no hidden meaning whatsoever. XP
Season 4 of Doctor Who? So Ten and Donna are in the TARDIS, you’ve seen Giant Wasps and Pompeii and the Ood? It was an epic series, with a fantastic finale. Also, the Christmas Special episode was particularly good that year – called ‘The Next Doctor’, featured David Morrissey and the Cybermen. Was one of my all-time favourites.

Anyway hen, hope you had a fantastic birthday; let me know how it all went. =)

Ben
PS. I went into an American restaurant the other week an asked for Cheesy Brats – they had no idea what they were! =(

Hey Stina hen, long time no see! (or never see...rather, 'long time no type' =p)

Hope all is well with you. Life here is pretty awesome - I've just started my postgrad in Journalism & Radio Broadcasting! Hopefully by next summer I'll be full time with BBC Radio! *Crosses fingers* One step closer to my script on tv! Oh, and I've (finally) finished my FALLOUT movie script. Sending that to Bethesda asap.

Anyway, just wanted to let you know that I've (again, finally) uploaded that photo of the Mayflower in Canterbury - bit of history, if that takes you. =)

All the best hen,

Benjamin

My Harry Potter tattoo is on my foot. It's the deathly hallows symbol and under it it says "All was well." It didn't hurt as much as I thought it would! It was kind of like a bee sting over and over.

Also, I'm afraid of needles. :3 ahahahah

I’m sure, after how important Snape/Lily was to Deathly Hallows, it would be a main theme of the Marauders books. Snape’s decent into darkness would be a huge part of the last books of the series – see, if we Nerdfighters can figure all this out, why can’t JK?!

Doctor Who has been FANTASTIC in this last season; there wasn’t a single bad episode. Matt Smith really has proved himself to be just as awesome as Tennant. And lol, textsfromtheTARDIS is a work of genius! The Doctor kept trying to get into bed with Amy & Rory did he? Tsk tsk. X’D
Right, let’s see if I can work this credits thingy…fingers crossed!

Oh, and PS – Happy Esther day Stina. In the words of Karl Pilkington, much love ‘n that. =D

Lol, oh yea, I did once hear that cheese comes in spray cans in America! I’m not even sure if that’s scientifically possible, but you’ve managed it! =p And no, no no no, you are thinking of like the Bournville bars! Cadbury’s do make a high coca bar (the above-mentioned Bournville) but most English chocolate is far sweeter. Did you not see the Simpson’s episode when they come to England and Bart & Lisa go mad on chocolate?
Hershey’s aside (Cadbury’s rules =D) there are so many American foods that sound awesome, and yet simply don’t exist over here. These cheesy brats of yours sound incredible, but I can guarantee that there isn’t a single restaurant or supermarket in the UK that sells them. Maybe I’ll go to Comic Con one year, or to the Harry Potter theme park, just to try all these exotic foods. XD
Lol, if you ever make it, we’ll do the whole show. Canterbury Cathedral, Kings Cross, we’ll stop for tea at the Mayflower. =D Of course, a trip to England wouldn’t be complete without stopping for tea & scones with jam…

…I’m not sure I’ve ever had Tea & Scones with jam, but we can skip over that small detail. ;)

Where would you want to see, if you did ever visit the UK?

We’ll stop by The Grint’s house and buy an ice cream. XD I’m pretty sure the van is still in Hertfordshire, since you’d have trouble parking something that size in London. Lol, ‘scare him away’; as if we’re hunting some elusive animal.
(Cue mental images of us, carrying large nets, trying to catch Rupert Grint who is swinging through the trees in a loin cloth.) XD

(Oh, ps, how did you send me that HP Wand? Wanted to send you a Hedwig in return, can't quite figure out how... XD)

Ah, a nap as in sleep! Sorry, I was imagining some odd American dish, possibly something resembling a Dorito. XP
Cheesy Brats…this IS an odd American dish, then? =D I know the UK has a poor culinary reputation in the States; there are so many kinds of food we just don’t get. Still, our chocolate is far better. =p (Oh yeah, I said it) ;)
If you ever make it to the UK, we’ll go on a history tour! (Now who else but a Nerdfighter would think that was an awesome idea?) Of course, we’ll have to incorporate all the Harry Potter landmarks…and take time out to prove that UK Chocolate rules. =p

I think Rupert Grint must be a Nerdfighter…he will be on the Ning somewhere, under a cover name. If I ever see him knocking about in Bluewater, I’ll tell him to ‘friend’ you. =D I’ll keep the cardboard cut-out a secret for now, but you have to promise to hide the bloody thing if I set you guys up! Don’t want him finding that when he drops by to meet your parents. =p

Surely a Marauders series would have to come from JK herself – it just wouldn’t be cricket otherwise. =D I’d love to see Mad-Eye at his prime, battling Death Eaters and losing his eye. The thing is, who would be the central character? Severus? James? Lily?

I’ve just been watching the first Vlogbrothers videos again…gosh, they look so young! Have you been back to watch Brotherhood 2.0 recently?
At 6:36pm on July 20, 2011, Benjamin E said…
His home town is in Hertfordshire, about 30/40 mins drive away from me. Sorry, is that big news? =p
In fairness, he may have moved into his own place by now! Something snazzy in London…still, his mum & dad live there, and the Grint himself has been seen frequenting Bluewater (that ‘mall’ I mentioned) on numerous occasions. Nice to see a local lad do so well. XD

Don’t worry – next time I see him poking around town, I’ll let him know a friend of mine fancies him. You never know… ;)
I’ve been hearing a good idea from fellow Nerdfighters over the past 24 hours – a prequel series. Seven new books based around the Marauders, the rise of Voldemort and the first wizarding war between the Death Eaters and Moody’s Aurors. Your thoughts?

Book Recommendations! - Staked & Revamped by J.F. Lewis

Okay so these books are different than the normal vampire books that I recommend. These have a more adult rating and you can most definitely tell that they are written by a man. These books are nonstop action, violence, & sex. They are actually quite fun to read and feature Eric - a vampire who seems regular but is actually extremely powerful (even more than he knows) and his sarcastic, fight first question later ways make it endearing. He owns a strip club and the girls who work there, he… Continue

Book Recommendation - Percy Jackson and the Olympians series

Sorry I forgot last week! urgh how horrible of me...

Okay so I've only read the first one and am about 3 pages into the second one, but I think that this book series is AMAZING! It's also a good book series for teen boys. Most book series for teens are directed at teen girls, this series is all action-adventure and pure awesomeness plus the added bonus of getting to learn about Greek mythology which can be totally fun. …
