Kate the Fateful replied to Damian's discussion What song can you not stop listening to currently?
"Everyone needs at least a few fun songs on their iPod or mp3 player or whatever they happen to have :) My iPod is overflowing with all this 'deep and meaningful' music and occasionally I just need a break from that"

Kate the Fateful replied to Damian's discussion What song can you not stop listening to currently?
"I've got Starlight by Muse on replay in The-Great-Playlist-In-My-Head, at the moment. It's been on loop for some hours, and is actually getting kind of annoying now, much as I do love it"

Kate the Fateful replied to untunedjoy's discussion What are you reading at the moment?
"I used to read those books when they first came out! My cousin had them all, and he'd give them to me when he'd finished with them. I loved how fast paced they are"

Kate the Fateful replied to untunedjoy's discussion What are you reading at the moment?
"I'm reading A Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys at the moment, and it's really excellent - it's essentially the story of Bertha Mason from Jane Eyre, which is pretty much one of my all-time favourite books. Oh, and I'm…"

"This looks like a fantastic idea - I shall definitely have to try it! :) I'm a bit stuck, financially, at the moment, and I don't have a local library, so one book a week is about all I can afford to read, and this would actually be a…"

Project INSPIRE

An appeal to all Nerdfighters! I'm hoping to set up something called "Project Inspire", wherein artists, musicians and writers come together to collaborate and inspire one another to take flight (metaphorically, most likely, but if you do your best work in aeroplanes or hot-air-balloons, that works too). The project has three aims:1. Finish a 'work of art' (this can be a painting, a novel, a song, a sculpture made of pizza...anything)2. Do something to inspire someone else to finish their work…See More

What Kind of Nerdfighter Are You?
I'm a Nerdwriter
About Me:
I'm a twenty-year-old girl...woman...person...thing living in a tiny university town in North Wales, waiting not-so-patiently for my escape back into the real world. I'm drawing near to the end of my English Literature with Creative Writing degree, and I think one of the main things you could say about me is that I'm... well, a bit uncertain. I'm still in that "trying to figure life out" stage that's impossible to describe without sounding horribly cheesy. There are two things I try to do every day of my life: write and sing, because those things, above all else, make me happy.
Favorite Books, Movies, Music, and more
Books: "The Great Gatsby", F. Scott Fitzgerald; "Great Expectations", Charles Dickens; "Neverwhere", Neil Gaiman; "Her Fearful Symmetry", Audrey Niffenegger"; "PopCo", Scarlett Thomas; "Vile Bodies", Evelyn Waugh; "Wicked", Gregory Maguire; "Paper Towns", John Green; the "Harry Potter" series, J. K. Rowling; the "Hunger Games" trilogy, Suzanne Collins, "The Handmaid's Tale", Margaret Atwood

Movies:
Practical Magic; Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind; Girl, Interrupted; Sweeney Todd; Juno; Disney's Alice in Wonderland; 10 Things I Hate About You

Music:
Tori Amos, The Velvet Underground, The Smiths, David Bowie, The Beatles, Emilie Autumn, Anna Nalick, The Killers
What's your favorite thing to put on your head?
Glittery purple top-hats (although, I must say, I wouldn't mind having one of those Holden Caulfield hats, either)
If you could do your happy dance with anyone who would it be with?
Hmmm... real or fictional? Real: It would be wonderful if I could coax my large and somewhat dysfunctional family into doing a happy dance... Fictional: Lewis Carroll's Mad Hatter would be fun to happy dance with... or, you know, it would be quite hilarious to see someone sullen and surly, like, oh, Severus Snape, forgetting all his cares and happy dancing along with me
