That is sad but true. Its the reason why I have always encouraged people to be more pro-active consumers. For instance the subject of GM (genetically modified) foods is quite a hot topic in Europe at the moment and the general consensus is that peop…

Profile Information

What Kind of Nerdfighter Are You?
Vigilante, Awesomeness Activist, Joy-spreader
About Me:
My name is Marlon. I like being creative and witnessing the creativity of others. My favorite pastime (unless you count learning) is performing, even though I got a pretty late start on it. I've basically dedicated my life to fighting the oncoming upheaval of killer robots in the near future.

Two figures I aspire to be the most like in life are Batman, Jesus, and Edward Monkton's Pig of Happiness.

My main priorities in life are the acquisition of knowledge, the general well-being of humanity, and self-improvement. ...more or less in that order. I guess learning can be filed under self-improvement and improving myself could be somehow seen as an act of service to my fellow man (no, I don't have a problem with using the word "man" as a general, all-inclusive term. And yes, I think that's a petty and unimportant gender issue.) Comedy/laughter is a solid place holder in my list of top ten most important things to ever exist...ever.

I'm an intp and a taurus, I enjoy spending time looking at the sky, also time looking at the ground. I enjoy bubble baths. I'm not actually into astrology.

I don't like the beach, Tim Burton, bananas, or The Beatles.

I do like Oxford commas, banana flavored candy, improvisation, and jazz.

I kind of play eight instruments (five might be more accurate) (at the very least, three) I'm always wanting to learn more. I guess "learning more" is my number one desire.

If I were to get a tattoo, though I probably wouldn't, I'd get a zebra on my right shoulder-blade.(This if I had a tattoo thing changes pretty frequently, which is reason number 5 I'll never get one)

I would love to one day take clown classes, go train hopping, and travel to Rotterdam.
Favorite Books, Movies, Music, and more
I think it's a given that I'm a huge fan of John Green's books (esp. Paper Towns) and that although I once believed I never had to actually read an actual book and there wasn't much of a point to reading anything but pure, storyless facts, these novels returned my faith in creative writing and those who read for fun (even in the midst of abominations like Twilight or-dare I mention-The Clique Series). So I won't say it.

I will, however, say that Norton Juster's The Phantom Tollbooth and The Dot and the Line: A Romance in Lower Mathematics have essentially shaped the way I view/enjoy the world and live my life.

And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street, Horton Hatches the Egg, Horton Hears a Who!, How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, The Cat in the Hat, One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish, Green Eggs and Ham, The Sneetches and Other Stories, Dr. Seuss's Sleep Book, Dr. Seuss's ABC: An Amazing Alphabet Book! (especially), Hop on Pop, Fox in Socks, The Foot Book, I Can Lick 30 Tigers Today! and Other Stories, Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You?: Dr. Seuss's Book of Wonderful Noises!, The Lorax, Marvin K. Mooney Will You Please Go Now!, There's a Wocket in My Pocket!, Oh, the Thinks You Can Think!, I Can Read with My Eyes Shut!, Oh Say Can You Say?, Hooper Humperdink...? Not Him!, Ten Apples Up on Top!, Maybe You Should Fly a Jet! Maybe You Should Be a Vet!, I Wish That I Had Duck Feet, and Oh, the Places You'll Go!

Somehow miraculously all written by the same person, made me believe in the power of my own imagination and my potential as an individual, plus showed me the fun of comically playing with words and sounds and I think they're essential reads for every human being regardless of age.

I also believe that the works of Lewis Carroll are so much more than "just drug-trip stories" and say a lot of potent things about free thought and discerning what's really important in life and they don't deserve to be desecrated by Tim Burton.
What's your favorite thing to put on your head?
Apples, hats, towels, and my sister's pet bird when it doesn't poop on me. I recently succeded in balancing a pair of bongo drums on my head in a Denny's parkinglot. It was pure ecstacy (sans the drug).
If you could do your happy dance with anyone who would it be with?
Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria.

Doo doo de doo waaaa doo de doo! (<-- That's you playing something.) Everyone appreciates the band/orchestra geeks and the pretty voices. Whether you sing in the choir, participate in a school/local band, or sit at home writing music, you contribute a joy to society that everyone can agree on. Yay! Welcome to actually doing something for poor, pathetic human souls. (Just kidding.)

If you please,

[note: the anti-book reading thing is mainly a long-running gag I have that you Nerdfighters don't know about yet; regardless I'd like your suggestions]

Ok, it's not that I'm conceding that I actually need to actually read actual books instead of reading about books or listening to people talk about in order to live a full and enriched life (or assert my intellectual superiority).

I have a strict policy of not retracting statements except in the most dire circumstances. (there are a few small… Continue

Don't worry about it, it takes a while to get used to the interface. Someone should really make some instructions for DAWN. As for 8. just power through.
