I know a lot of nerd fighters dig books, but how many of us have jobs in the field? Let's talk shop! What kind of library do you work in? What are some cool programs your library has had? What's…Continue

Ok...We know a lot of things that are bad to blenderize and/or eat, but how about things that are good? What have you successfully blenderized /eaten?

Rae Fuzzledalek said… Pretty much, though. I feel epic. Even my misspellings are real creations!
Well, yeah...except the trading places is kind of turning the story into a love triangle, and that was SO not supposed to be the focus.
School's...ugh. The first year of this acting program is probationary, and one of the three teachers for the main classes absolutely detests me and I don't know why. But she's making it pretty clear to me that she doesn't want me to continue on. I have the end of year interview on Thursday where I actually get feedback from all three teachers, but I'm having a kind of low grade panic attack because I honestly have no clue if the other two are going to be on Gayle's side or if they're going to form their own separate opinions of my work. ajkldhgalksdfjghalsdkfhj Yeah, that's my finals woe. How's life treating you?
Rae Fuzzledalek said… TO INFINITY, AND BEYOND!
Haha, I know. That's so embarrassing, I can't believe I misspelled it that badly. -_-
It's still kind of in the same place, tbh. The main thing that's changing is that the people I thought were good guys are turning out to be asshats, and the people who were supposed to be asshats are actually really nice. akjlshgalkdjgfhalskgjdh STOP REBELLING, CHARACTERS!!!
Rae Fuzzledalek said… Truth. The sky is only so high. After that, you just have to look at the stratosphere.
AHHHHHH I SPELLED IT WRONG I'M A HORRIBLE PERSON I meant a plesiosaur. First grade me would be so ashamed. It's kind of like a mix between an apatosaurus and a manatee.
Haha, I'll definitely let you know how it ends up when I finally pull this plot through to the end. :)
Rae Fuzzledalek said… Oh, the eternal praise and worship from my loyal devotees is more than enough recognition for me. I mean, I wouldn't say no to a temple in my honor or anything, but hey, what's left if I haven't got anything to which to aspire?
I have to say, being a doofy triceratops would be fun. I'd totally be a plagiosaurus. I've actually had that answer picked out since I was about four. So yeah. PLAGIOSAURI FTW!
I wish I'd done more of that, tbh. November's always just a weird month for me. I think I might try and do NaNoWriMo in March or something, just to see if doing it in the spring is any better for my creative juices, haha.
Blaaaaaaaaaaarghhhhhhhhh.
Rae Fuzzledalek said… What can I say, I'm a pro.
Yeah, it really really is.
Duuuude if I was a dinosaur, I would totally be chewing out the meteor. F'shiz, man.
Yeah, I lost to NaNoWriMo. Ah well. I'll just keep working on it slowly.
Sorry this response is so short, my brain is kind of fried atm. :/
Rae Fuzzledalek said… Haha, true that. Bad ideas can still be fun, though. Sometimes, a bad idea executed well can be better than a good idea executed poorly. That thought is getting away from me so I'm going to flee the scene *flees to next paragraph before even placing a period*
The gun rule actually also applies to the l-bomb, sort of! Like, a relationship is interesting up until it's solid, you know? Once it's solid, everything turns into True Love versus Everything Else, and it just gets preachy and love-will-conquer-all-y and weird.
aslkdjghalksjgdhalskjfhalksjdghlkasjdhf don't even get me STARTED on sudden loud noises. Once, when I was about ten, my brother pulled a party popper right next to my left ear. I still randomly hear ringing in it sometimes. It has trained me well for running away, but not so well for everyday life and/or action movies.
Oh, cool! Sounds entertaining. :) I hope you don't have to force it too much, maybe something will light the fire again?
Rae Fuzzledalek said… High school stuff is a treasure trove of good ideas executed weirdly. Not always badly, just weirdly, at least for me. I actually have a running Word document where I collect the snippets of poetry and random pieces of dialogue that were well-written but didn't work in context, haha.
Oh, EXACTLY! That's kind of like the old theater rule, a gun is only interesting onstage until it's fired. Once it's fired, it loses all the weight of the anticipation, and the aftermath takes over. It's the same with movie monsters--the scariest part is trying to figure out what it is!
Oh god. I can't do sudden jumps. When I saw I Am Legend in theaters, I actually screamed at one of the snap shots. In my defense, my friends were tormenting me throughout the movie and keeping me constantly on edge. Just saying. Not ENTIRELY my fault I was so damn jumpy.
It started out with just the basic concept of the Greek gods being real and Cassandra (the prophetess of Apollo, cursed to always know the future and never be believed) being a title rather than just a name and being a person who is constantly reincarnated so the curse lives on in each generation. Took it a step farther and suddenly it's modern day high school, aka hell for anyone who isn't normal. Still working on the actual plot, but right now I'm stuck in the relationship-building stage. It's coming together kind of nicely, actually, except for the part where Apollo was SUPPOSED to be a good guy but I can't stop writing him as a douche. I guess him being a good guy doesn't really work with the scenarios I've got so far. What's your NaNoWriMo story shaping out to be?
Rae Fuzzledalek said… Srsly. Nightmares are basically the only dreams I can remember after the fact, which is weird and slightly depressing but it's also just really exciting to wake up in the morning and KNOW what I dreamt. If that makes any sense.
The Graveyard sounds like a wonderland! :D I have something kind of similar to that...except it's just a Writing folder on my computer, and I have random starts to stories and little vignettes and short snippets of dialogue and that's about it.
Oh god. IT is the reason that I have a thing about clowns. Ughhhhh. I'm generally fine with slasher films, but psychological horror movies scare the shit out of me. I still get the chills when kids talk about their imaginary friends. Or when flocks of birds act strangely. dfjkahfglkajdhfglakjdfhs
Rae Fuzzledalek said… Truth! That's really neat, dreams and nightmares can definitely be useful for idea mining. :)
Whoa. Yeah, okay, definitely going to pull a Cussler once I graduate if I don't get an agent from the showcase. That's actually completely ingenious.
skjfhglakjhglajkdhglskjdhalkjfgha The boomcrashflash is not fun. My old flatmates laughed their asses off at me because I kept twitching and jumping and hiding behind pillows and shit. Bleah.
Rae Fuzzledalek said… Whoa, that sounds really neat. I kind of wish they hadn't discovered Amelia Earhart's plane already...I think I'd probably cry with excitement if she was in an episode of Doctor Who, haha. The Red Madness sounds really cool! So the people stricken with it are forced to become murderers and are in constant pain? That's insanely creepy. You could even make it explain things from history, like Lizzie Borden or something, haha.
I actually didn't get the reference...embarrassed hedgehog...what's it from? But our cleverness shall enable us to rule the universe and the entertainment industry!
Yeah, Northern California gets like one thunderstorm every three or four years, so I didn't really have to deal with them on a grand scale until I moved to Oklahoma two years ago. That's when I figured out that lightning is only pretty when it isn't followed by giant booms of thunder and green skies. as;akjhalgjahdlgkjahgflakdjhgas
I KNOW RIGHT ugh I love babyquakes. Actual earthquakes can be bad and intimidating and all, but babyquakes bleed off tension and are just plain fun. :D
