What Kind of Nerdfighter Are You?
Pretty much anything I do, I do in a nerdy way :D
About Me:
I am 16.

I play guitar (working towards my grade 6), read a hell of a lot, and rarely watch TV. When I do, pretty much all I watch is comedy- Flight of the Conchords, Mighty Boosh and IT Crowd to name but a few.

The player only accepts mp3, so is a poor cross-section of my music likes. Recently played albums include:
A Certain Trigger by Maxïmo Park
Funeral by The Arcade Fire
Falling off the Lavender Bridge by Lightspeed Champion
Vampire Weekend by the band of the same name.
Franz Ferdinand by the band of the same name.
Jewelery by Micachu
Some songs by Cake
every Muse album
D-Sides by Gorillaz
Nights Out by Metronomy
21 by Mystery Jets

and more!
Favorite Books, Movies, Music, and more
Christopher Paolini's Inheritance Cycle
Phillip Pullman's His Dark Materials
Michelle Paver's Chronicles of Ancient Darkness
Phillip Reeves series about the cities
'The red Necklace' by Sally Gardener
All Darren Shan books (the mind needs a rest now and then)
Le Grande Meaulnes by Alain Fournier

We could be here a while!

What Be Your Nerd Type?
Your Result: Social Nerd

You're interested in things such as politics, psychology, child care, and peace. I wouldn't go so far as to call you a hippie, but some of you may be tree-huggers. You're the type of people who are interested in bettering the world. You're possible the least nerdy of them all; unless you participate in other activies that paled your nerdiness compared to your involvement in social activities. Whatever the case, we could still use more of you around. ^_^

Sorry to do this to you, Padraic but I must ask you to have a look at The Guide to Nerdfighting here on the ning and if you have something to contribute add it to the submissions. I'm trying to spread the word about this project so please pass it on. DFTBA

Hey, I just had an idea, you know Sean, from nerdfighteria.org? Well, why don't you submit a request for a gathering organizing type website?

I'm so jealous of your science lessons! We never got to do experiments, because the gas kept getting turned off every time we were going to burn things. The look on my teacher's face was almost worth it. We don't get to do anything as cool as that in lessons; the closest we get is having dedicated cake days in every subject.
It does add an extra difficult dimension to the morning, I will admit. In many ways it'd be easier if we had a strict dress code instead of just black, white or grey; then again, there isn't really an exact equivalent of suits for girls. The younger years seem to be divided into the ones who scurry past with looks of fear, hold doors open and generally bow down to us, and the ones who give us bolshy you-think-you're-so-cool looks. And then there's a small gaggle of Year 7s who like to greet me with screams of "Jenny!" and crippling hugs. For the first time in forever, I'm really enjoying school.

So am I, this will be my second gathering this year if I do go (first being Summer in the City youtube gathering, which was extremely fun even if I did only manage to meet two new people).

I think anyone who grew up in the 90's has to have some kind of love for pokemon and nintendo, I literally played my N64 everyday from when I got it to when I got my PS2. And as for the mighty boosh, well. I guess you either love it or you just don't understand it (I don't quite know how anyone could hate something so amazing..)

Yeah - Im a dab hand at organising stuff. I suggest a facbook event and a group chat on msn maybe. At least get a list of emails and names going :)

Hey dude, think I will be going to the gathering in London on the 24th. What kind of stuff will everyone be doing all day?

Hey, I'm trying to make some friends on here who are going to the gathering thing because I think it's a cool idea and if I do go I don't want to be really quiet and anti-social all day :D
So how are you? ^-^

Nope don't mind you asking at all xDD I go to Mill Hill...IN Mill Hill (lawl at the fail pun). I just started lower sixth.

Boring as hell I tell you xD. The lack of awesome (that I know of) is astounding.

Wow - that's quite a list! I really miss my Science lessons, but that's more because of eating Pringles and learning sign language under the desks with my friends than the actual lesson content. Still, as long as you're enjoying them it's all good!
Some of my teachers do that, too, because practically all of our lessons are doubles and we all end up with dead legs otherwise. And we get to wear our own clothes, which is great - the terrified looks of the Year 7s makes everything worthwhile! The teachers treat us with a bit more... respect isn't quite the right word, but I can't find the one I'm actually looking for.

Text Box, you say? Delightful!

Jeeeeeeeeeesus I have no idea whatsoever to use this for.

[Note to Megan: I wrote it down for once!]

All the world's a stage and all the men and women, merely players
Aye, were never truer than at this moment
When we gather round the paltry fire
Our Midsummer Nights 'Dream'
But with a forest in Hayes
For a faery wood

Comedy, Tragedy?
Alas, would that I could tell you
the masks we wear
rather than frowns or smiles bear
the emotion of a newly plastered wall
blank, unchanging. Nothing lies where
flesh should reveal the working of the mind.

Instead, emotions are guarded
(Be it a side effect of this alcohol,
The few drinks we manage to seize,
or general angst)
And I may spend these hours by her side
and know but a little of her for all the words we share

But regardless, we stage a play
the trees the orchestra to our stage
and the stalls? What is your audience?
Should I say that we perform to the forest itself?
No, no grand purpose do these actions have,
rather, expressing childish desire
in a way we so strongly hope is considered adult
Because we're not kids,
you know!

...
You're still here, I note
well do you want an analogy?
Very well- perhaps you may
consider it a dress rehearsal
a forerunner of the follies of later life
but slightly accentuated by our teenage desire
to grow up in nothing but body and privilege
