What Kind of Nerdfighter Are You?
I'm an honest Nerdfighter
About Me:
Me? Oh, I'm a Nerd, like so many others on this site. What kind of Nerd? Well, a Nerd of multiple things I assume. I'm quite into video-games, animes/mangas, Visual Novels, dancing, the Internet in general and japanese music. I also recently started to learn the piano (finally). Ah, and I work out, to find a balance between spending a lot of time in front of my PC:

When I was 12 years old I decided that I want to work in the gaming industry as a journalist. There are multiple ways to make this dream come true and I am busy working towards that goal. I'm currently studying "Media Econimics & Journalism" in Wilhemshaven and make regular game related blogs on Screwattack http://www.screwattack.com/user/elrood/blog At the end of 2012, I'll be stepping it up a level and make videos.

Personality-wise I'm an extremely honest person, at least that's what I want to believe. I try to sustain an open mind for everything I'm not familiar with and think tolerance is one of the things society seems to lack.

I joined this site not necessarily to take part in intelligent conversations but rather to find nice people. From what I've seen so far, Nerdfighters seem to be a sympathic bunch and I'm excited whether I'll find good friends on this site. If you wanna talk about whatever, just send me a message - I might even answer back.

'till then DFTBA
Favorite Books, Movies, Music, and more
-Books-

Fantasy: "Uldart-Series"

Coming of age: "An abundance of Katherines" by John Green

Science Fiction: "Feed" by M.T. Anderson & Brave New World by Aldous Huxley

-Movies-

My favourite movies are "Kara no Kyoukai - The garden of Sinners" "The End of Evangelion", "Evangelion - You can (not) Advance 2.22" and " The Matrix" and "Rocky" ("ADriaN!")

-Music-

Depending on my mood I can pretty much listen to everything, but I do have preferences.

Japanese:
I REALLY like japanese music in generel (pretty much every music direction I've heard so far). My favourite singer is...

Yoeko Kurahashi:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28asNwo5FFQ&feature=relatedand (cute)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pe_PGRTi-L4 (funky)

I'm also into songs of the Shoot 'em Up game "Touhou" ( Google it!)One of the many examples is this one...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YdSEWyPMsc
or that one
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3C-VevI36s

Japanese - OST:
Aside from vocalized songs, I'm also into OST versions of games and animes like this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iFKfwhRbnVc&feature=related
or that
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QguA_qEEpkw&feature=related

English:
There are some bands/artists I listen to like:
"Thomas Channel" (couldn't find a link on youtube)
"Hank Green" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9t7E4amWDqI

German:
Lastly there is my mother tongue. There isn't a lot of German music I really appreciate but "Bodo Wartke"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7zqt6U_ikU
,is by far one of my favourite music artists.

Electro Swing:

A kind of new style that combines old and new music. The song that started it all for me is this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=twqM56f_cVo (Great dance music!)

-Games-

Well, by now, I've been playing a lot of games. I'll try to make it short.

Favourite genres: Role Playing Games (RPG, J-RPG), First Person Shooters (FPS), Real Time Strategie (RTS) and Shoot 'em ups.

Favourite games: "Final Fantasy 9","Eternal Sonata", "Katawa Shoujo", "Tsukihime", "Warcraft 3", "Diablo 2" and "Zelda - Ocarina of Time", well and I think "Halo - Combat Evolved" too.

Favorite Animes: "Nichijou", "Evangelion", "Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei", "Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood", "Higurashi", "Clannad", "Bunny Drop", "Sword Art Online" and "Kokoro Connect". (Geez that's a lot)

-Visual Novels

Visual Novels are text-heavy and give the reader a visual presentation of the current scene. The most basic form of interaction is a choice-system, which influences the flow of the story. There are many sub-genres of visual novels out there. Some focus more on story and atmosphere others on "pervy" stuff.

Ah, okey. Well, books that school mekes you read is most times a struggle. Havn't read "Brave New World", should though seem cool. OLd sci fi books always a good thing. Alos my skype name is Elsa.Birath and yes, Elsa is my real name. It's have always been a hard task finding a nick-name for me cause Elsa is already short and easy.

we might see each other on skype soon then :) any luck with jobs yet? oh shouldn't that give time to build a blog?

At 2:32pm on September 27, 2011, Elsa said…

Oh, i'll check all of those bands out :) nice with some japanees music guide. yeah, would be awesome, we could skype or chatt anytime. I'm mostly online in the evenings after nine. (Finishing my work at eight)

An other question, what sort of books do you like? have you've read this "The sufferings of young Werther" by geouthe? It's one of my favourite books and it's by (obviously) a german athor so you've might have read it. People in Sweden seldom have :(

Whats your skype name?

Oh, yeah you were asking about my opinion on japaneas music...to be honest i don't know a lot of j-music. Just heard some of the big bands and never fallen for it really. One of my friend where playing some quite punky hardcore bands from japan one time but didn't write down names...do you have any good tips i should look up?
At 1:05pm on September 25, 2011, Elsa said…

yeah1 you should make a vlog/blog or likely, Geuss that's a good preperation, a good thing to show when your looking for internships as well probably...

I've played a bit final fantasy, but just on the ds so guess it doesn't even count. lol. have you ever tryed that game "heavy rain"? I wanna try it, it looks so nice but i've just got a mac-computer, lol. Can't remember what you wrote now even :( disslikes that one can't see all the conversation when answering. Oh dear..all these problems.

At 3:25am on September 25, 2011, Elsa said…

Oh! I hope you'll get to do one of those internships. Probably hard work bet really fun. What games? I don't know anything about games, just a lot of titles.( Worked at a werehouse collecting all sort of games for a while.) But do vlog or blog then about games or so?

Well, mostely bored of my small swedish city. I'm not going to uni yet so can do what ever I want for an other year :) Think i'll go back for my stuies next autumne though.....

At 12:32pm on September 24, 2011, Elsa said…

Well yeah, there seem to be quite many chill cafées and bars all over the city, which i've enjoyed so far. So what will you do till next year then? what sort of jurnalist would you becpme? a wrighting one? Bet it would be an exciting job, travalling and meeting loads of interesting people.

Oh,talking about jobs, lol, i've got my self a job today, in a restaurant. Basically I'm gonna be a waitress at a tairestaurang situated in mitte. the owner of the restaurant didn't mind that i can't speak a word of german. lol. Will be a bit strange in the beginning.

At 7:20am on September 23, 2011, Elsa said…

LOL, okey, well, street signs and that sort of stuff is alright. I do understand most of them, even if i can't pronounce the words properly. The main reason till why I'm here is a massive boredom when it comes to sweden and karlstad where I'm from. Since my sister lives here it was pretty easy to move. Also, when i've been in Berlin earier i've liked the city and going to a new place is quite exciting, plus the fact that i'll get to learn german. there you go, that's why i'm here! what about you? :)

At 2:59am on September 23, 2011, Elsa said…

Oh, my german is absolutely rubbish at the moment. No, not even rubbish, it's quite non-exictence apart for some very basic sentences as;"Einen Kaffee bitte" "das ist gut so".

Will start a fulltime course soon though and hopefully improve a lot. Lol. Is there any active nerdfighting groups here? Do you have any nice Barlin geeky tips? I've found a nice cartonbook store Kreuzberg so far but i bet you know loads of more chill spots.
