I thought the very end was kind of cheesy. It seemed to me that he was trying to put himself in there as the guy who constructed it all, because as the author of the book he did. I did like the last line though, but it could have been presented in a different/better way. I still liked it a lot. Have you read the Book Thief? It's also by him and is good as well.
