Okay, this is probably the best solution. Here's my Favorites section. I'll probably leave the blog post, just cause.
-----
Books. Hard to pick a favorite, since I read so little (changing that!), so I’ll pick the ones I’ve finished recently: Scott Pilgrim, Ender’s Game, Speaker for the Dead, Blonde Bombshell, Hunger Games trilogy, The Boy Who Couldn’t Sleep and Never Had To, and I AM IN THE MIDDLE OF TFiOS. Will probably move backwards through the rest of John’s books.
(Okay, now I have to do the nifty Chrome thing of expanding this <textarea> thingy. Does this thing do HTML? I dunno. I am at work and I SHOULD BE WORKING, but there’s nothing to do since I’m waiting on assets from a designer to program into Facebook)
Movies! I don’t watch many of these either. The most recent one I’ve seen is The Muppets WHICH MAKES ME CRY ALL THE TIME AT THE RAINBOW CONNECTION. There’s also Star Wars. I like all 6, not just the old ones, so THERE. And…Serenity, cause I like Firefly. Yeah. There’s probably more, I should check my Netflix history for that.
Music! It’s hard for me to pay attention to what I am actually listening to, since I use Pandora (and recently Spotify Radio) so much. Here’s my last.fm profile: http://www.last.fm/users/esaevian.Musicians/Albums of note (to me at least) are: Daft Punk, The Bastion soundtrack (LISTEN TO IT AND PLAY THAT GAME IT IS SO GOOD. It’s on Steam for Mac and PC, Chrome, and probably XBLA and PSN) (it is by Darren Korb), and the Superbrothers:Sword and Sworcery EP soundtrack (Also a good game, play it. It’s on iOS and Steam I think now) (it is by Jim Guthrie)
More!
TV Shows! I watch more TV than movies, but still not much. I’m currently going through Buffy with my lovely girlfriend. Right smack dab in the middle of Season 3 as of this writing. Loving it. Also watching How I Met Your Mother (also introduced to me by my girlfriend and her roommates), mostly cause NPH and Jason Segel are awesome together. Other shows include Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Legend of Korra, and Futurama, and one other show that will get its own section later on.
Video Games!
(I am going to copy and paste this into a text document just incase my browser crashes)
I make a living making video games and I hoep to one day start my own indie game studio. My main inspiration for that is the studio Dejobaan Games (http://www.dejobaan.com) who have made such awesomeness as AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! A Reckless Disregard for Gravity (and for the Awesome…both on Steam) and I interned with them the summer after I graduated college and they were awesome to work with.
That said, I don’t actually play many video games, so I will go through and list what I do play.
I am a huge Sonic fan I DON’T CARE THAT THE MAJORITY OF THE GAMES OVER THE PAST TEN YEARS HAVE SUCKED. Sonic was my first game and he and all his furry pals will always have a place in my heart. Also, play Sonic Generations. IT IS GOOD.
Other than that, since I spend most of my time on the T going to and from work, I try to look for mobile games, specifically for iPhone. I mentioned Superbrothers:Sword and Sworcery EP which is great and other, more arcade-y games like Jetpack Joyride, groove Coaster, and Cut the Rope. I have noticed that there is a dearth of deep, story based games (specifically Metroidvania style games) on the iOS App Store, and I want to fill that. There is Mystery of the Japanese Werewolf, which was really good, but sadly, pretty short.
On consoles, I have a Wii and a 360. Zelda is always up there (loved Skyward Sword) Mirror’s Edge was great, I thought of it as a Sonic that stars a hot chick instead of a blue hedgehog. I’m not a fan of FPS’s, but for some reason the Halo series is my only exception. BF or CoD are not really my cuppa tea.
I can probably write a much longer essay on this, but I shall abstain for now. Ask me in person or on IM or PM or whatever ning does. I’ve never used Ning before.
LASTLY. THE TV SHOW THAT DESERVES ITS OWN SECTION (Maybe).
MY LITTLE PONY FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC AUGHHH
Rainbow Dash is the best pony. I have hats and hoodies and patches on my bookbags and it is awesome. I am pretty much dating Pinkie Pie because she makes cupcakes all the time and I sometimes help and she always throws parties which I attend and is just so awesome. But ponies are great and colorful and make me smile, which is something I actually kind of really needed when I first found out about them. So, bronies, keep staying awesome.
The Favorites box CUT ME OFF! ARGH. So here is what should have gone in that box:
