What Kind of Nerdfighter Are You?
Artsy Nerd
About Me:
- painting - just the act of it, the final product is never satisfying enough, so I usually paint over it
- reading - I love to spend all of my money on bargain books, I'm sooo pumped that Katharines is going to be $3.99!!!
- recycling - Im sure everyone has heard it a million times but it's such a simple thing to do that can help so much, so why don't people do it more?
- traveling - I haven't been many places so far (only Bermuda, Paris, Rome, Florence, and Toronto), but I plan on traveling a lot in my future, I'm still young, after all
- coffee - I'm a Dunkin Donuts addict, I live for DD coffee. Also I work there, and get free fill-ups during my shifts :)
- driving - though I feel guilty for enjoying something that is so directly terrible for the environment, I love to unwind by driving. Luckily, I live in the middle of nowhere, so if I'm going to go anywhere the drives start at 20 minutes. I drive stick shift, which is less common anymore.
- anti-philosophy - well, not really anti-philosophy, I'm just irritated when things are over thought. I would much rather live than think about living.

I'm an ecofreak and I encourage recycling and energy conservation to no end.

I want to go into Advertising Design and find work with an organization or company that is entirely ecofriendly and spread awareness.

Brotherhood 2.0 and EcoGeek brought all of these environmental issues to my attention, so thanks to Hank, for really truly changing my life and helping lead me to where I want to be.

I'm doing Kristina/Monday's 50 book challenge this year and I'm on number 17...I think, I don't remember. I have a lot more lined up waiting to be read though.
Favorite Books, Movies, Music, and more
So Yesterday, Primavera, Peeps, Uglies, The Truth About Forever, Catalyst, It's Kind of a Funny Story, City of Bones, Echo, This Lullaby, All We Know of Heaven, Looking for Alaska, Magic or Madness, Candy, Lucas

I guess I read mostly YA books. I think this is because there is s =o much more diversity in the teen section, whereas in the adult section you have to really delve in to find something that isn't utterly romance or entirely corny thriller.
If you could do your happy dance with anyone who would it be with?
Mike Rowe...or Harrison Ford
When did you start watching the Vlogbrothers?
January

Post-Potter Depreciation?

I was shopping at Barnes & Noble today (story of my life) and I found something that bothered me a bit. I was sorting through the bargain books table, and I found a copy of Order of the Phoenix that was marked down to $4. I don't know why it was there, but it's not a used book, our B&N doesn't have a used section, and it wasn't damaged at all. It just upsets me to think that Harry Potter is so far in the past that this legendary book is selling for so cheap, barely a year after the end.… Continue

this might stick

So not much new lately. I found the college of my dreams. I've actually already applied and been accepted and all, I just didn't realize that it was the perfect school for me until I visited on Monday. It would blow my mind to be able to go there, but financial aid is a huuuge part, and they don't have any art specific scholarships so I'm going to have to work crazy hard to get there.

Also, my friend Hannah and I have been talking about the… Continue

ning addict

so I think I am officially addicted to this thing. I'm on all the time and when I'm not, I want to be. like when I'm supposed to be preparing for my future and getting into college, i'm on the nerdning. true story.

so I challenged OpieTheMighty to build a cardhouse bigger than Hank's ecogeek cardhouse. and there's been this pack of cards sitting on the cumputer desk staring me down ever since. i couldn't resist and I tried to do it. oh my god. i am so sorry. that was a terrible…

hypocrisy

so I keep wndering around the NerdNing trying to find blogs to read and comment on and hopefully hit it off with some kickass nerdfighters, but no one really utilizes the blog function. and I thought it was a little hypocritical of me to be upset at this and not have a blog myself. so....ta-da...!

so B2.0 kind of got me into watching vlogs, and i'm really liking it at this point. it sounds kind of weird, i like watching other people talk about themselves on the…

Hehe. I never really played Oregon Trail at school. We had these weird huge floppy disk things with strange games on them. My favorite was this one where you're a fish and you have to eat the smaller fish and try not to be eaten by the bigger fish or birds. I was so bad at it, but it was fun. We also had this weird dinosaur game which I really want to play again because I remember it was fun, but nothing else.

That's awesome! Yeah. I was only in about 3rd grade when we got ours. I didn't even know how to play solitaire yet XD. Our computer came with a bunch of educational games. They were fun. Haha. Reading Blaster was the only game I never won. That one was impossible! I think it was reading blaster anyway... there was this horrible game where you had to jump on ghosts. I could do the words well enough, but I didn't have enough mad skillz to land on the ghosts I always died. Hah. Good times. And Oregon Trail. I suppose I never one that one either. I came close once, but then I died of gangrene. Twas disappointing. I remember floppy disks too! Before there were even CD burners!

You're right about the internet thing. I'm still not completely used to that. It's just crazy! I mean, I remember when we got our first computer (Win 95 FTW!) and now it's... this. It's so weird! I mean, remember dial up internet? For the longest time only one of my friends had high speed. It's just... Wow. I don't really believe it at all. I can't even imagine what it would be like to not have the Internet around. So many people pretty much rely on it now. I mean, research, email, communication in general... so much! Hah. I'll stop rambling now.

Oh wow. That's so awesome! Heh. He just said he liked my shirt (It said "THE FORCE IS STRONG WITH THIS ONE" in huge letters) and I kind of went "heh. Yeahhhhhhhh..." That was the extent of it. I want to meet him again so I can redeem myself.

That sounds really good! Something I would read. Haha. Yeah! I got to meet John! It was awesome! I didn't think I would be able to go, but one of my friends convinced her dad to drive 3 hours to Chicago. Haha. I was such a dork. All I could do is stand there and smile like a loony.

I just put pepper on my popcorn on accident... oops. Now it's spicy.

That's so cool! I know the feeling. I always come across stuff I'd written a year or so ago, and then I remember it and I'm all... "ohhhhhhh no. This is gonna be awful." So then I read it, and sometimes it's not so bad! That's always exciting.

What is your novel about? Just wondering. You don't have to explain it if you don't want to.

I'm the same way. Not a huge MJ fan, but it's entertaining enough. Her books are nice for quick reading. I'm trying to read so many difficult books right now that it's nice to have a bit of a break sometimes. I'll have to add that book to my list!

(I've finally made a physical list of books I intend to read, so it's not just in my head waiting to be forgotten anymore! YAY!)

Ooh... sounds like that's going to be a delightful process. I'm going to have the same problem in a few years when I look for a grad school (assuming I keep on track with the plan in my head). I only applied to one school because I knew where I wanted to go right away. Did I tell you that yet? Sorry if I'm being redundant. Anyway, good luck! Let me know how it goes!

I'm reading 13 Little Blue Envelopes because I haven't read it yet. Have you read that?
