What Kind of Nerdfighter Are You?
an older one that does remember Star Trek TNG but has all the original Treks on DVD
About Me:
A woman doesn't reveal her age, at least her true one, but lets just say after hanging around on this site for awhile I can say for sure I'm an older Nerdfighter. It's Willy's fault I'm here...I saw his cute face and then John & Hank sucked me on in....I love a laugh! I also love reading, select video games and old movies (mostly musicials & comedies).
Favorite Books, Movies, Music, and more
Any Terry Prachett book ( except The Dark Side Of The Sun...that bites), Harry Potter, Christopher Moore books, Julie Kenner books and of course An Abundance of Katherines (even with all the math)!
What's your favorite thing to put on your head?
Quilts and anything that comes off a gift box
If you could do your happy dance with anyone who would it be with?
my family which includes my dog
When did you start watching B20
2008

PS. (from my last comment) I found this saying on Facebook about Iowa and it is so true! It goes like this:
Iowa has 5 seasons a year: almost winter, winter, still winter, road construction, and freaken HOT!

It really is true......not sure that is a good thing. XD

Nah, needles don't scare me really. My mom works in the medical field and all that, so I'm just fine.
And thanks, academic stuff does come pretty naturally to me (thank goodness). It does come naturally, but I am also a perfectionist, so it has to be the absolute best I can do it. Did I mention I'm also competitive? Maybe not the best combination: perfectionist and competitive..... oh well. It gets the work done.
I’m not sure if I would say I’m a winter girl….. I do think when snow falls (and I mean just snow, not ice, sleet, and rain on top of it….) it can be very pretty. Especially on the trees in town. I live in a tiny town so the snow looks great until the snow plow comes through and makes it brown…. I don’t really get to sled anymore, but then again, I didn’t really when I was younger either. I liked to sled, but there isn’t really any places around here to sled. Our town is flat, and there is a city about 20 minutes from us and we found a hill near my grandparents place where people go sledding. We used to go there, but then we just never found time when there was enough snow without ice or rain.
I do like skiing, but there is, once again, no place to ski in the state! There is one place a few hours away by the border in Illinois that we tried last year that was pretty fun. I think winter would be more fun if we could do that stuff and it wasn’t so cold! Last year, whenever we did get snow, it would be in the below zero temperatures so no one could enjoy it!
I’m not sure what my favorite season is. Our winters are freezing, but our summers are scorching. I have bad outdoor allergies so I can’t really be outside at all except for the winter, but then, like I said, its just too cold. I like the colors and temp of the fall and I love the thunderstorms in the spring. I plan on being a meteorologist right now, and I love rain, thunderstorms, and tornadoes. I’m a nerd and I love it!
Now that I’m done rambling, what about you and your seasons of the year?

Potatoes are definitely one of may favourite parts of Thanksgiving, but they wouldn't be complete without my Danni's (Grandma) gravy. It's sooo good! And my Dad makes great carrots, drizzled in honey and dill, MMM!
We're actually going to be celebrating our Christmas in a week, but we don't make the dinner ourselves, so none of Danni's gravy for me :( ... Oh well, Terri (the lady who owns the B&B we go to) makes great soup.
Which reminds me, I have to wrap some presents! Have you started that yet? It's my favourite part, wrapping gifts.
I've finished one of my essays, phew! Glad I got that out of they way. Now only two more to go! Yay.... *sarcasm*. Haha. But I'm actually really pleased with it, it's about the death penalty and I really think I explained both sides effectively. So I'm happy.
Yep, still baby sitting, in fact that's what I was doing last night. I honestly don't mind it all that much, kids aren't as bad as I once thought. They're actually kind of fun. In moderation that is, haha.
I still can't back into a parking spot, which is something I'll have to do to pass my road test, but I'm learning! It looks like the strike is going to last through the winter, so I have time to practice. I could've had my license by now! But no, they decided they wanted more job security or something, blah blah blah. Haha, I'm kidding, good for them and all.
I've got to get ready soon, grocery shopping and then dinner with friends. (I sound so grown up when I say that [though I think I've just reversed it by pointing it out, haha]). Do you do the shopping in your family? I'm going to an Italian restaurant for dinner, it's my favourite! What type of "nation's food" do you like the most?

I've got a list of about 13 books that I've yet to read, The Historian, Jane Erye, and War and Peace to name a few. Right now I'm reading a few books. For school I'm reading MacBeth (which is alright) and Calculating God (which is pretty awesome), at home I'm reading Spiral Staircase (which is a lot better than I thought it would be), and at school (but not for school) I'm still reading AIDS Activist. So I've got a ways to go, haha. I've also got a few ebooks I'm hoping to start soon. Do you like ebooks? I find they hurt my eyes after a while, but they're still books. And no, we don't have book fairs anymore at school, which sucks, haha.
AH I want Star Trek so much! But I put it on my Christmas list so I can't buy it myself. Are there lots of lovely special features?
I've seen a "private showing" of New Moon, haha. It was pretty good. I really like the Volturi bits. Though there was one really corny bit (you'll know when you see it). But definitely production value is way up, and the overall look of the film is great.
Happy Thanksgiving!! Do you guys play the "what are you thankful for" game at dinner? Best dish?
Anyways, have a good holiday, talk to you later!

My Mum's nutcracker is an indoor one, made of tin. It's pretty sweet, except I always run into it. Speaking of nutcrackers, did you ever watch the movie/ballet of that? I used to love it as a kid.
No, no inflatable decorations for us. Nothing "cartoony" as my Mum puts it, haha. She likes things very classical.
Nope, we don't have Black Friday at all. We don't even have sales around our Thanksgiving in October. But generally on Boxing Day there is mega-sales, just not as hectic as what I've heard Black Friday is. Like two years ago on Boxing Day, I got a coat from Costa Blanca for $40, originally $80, so there are some good deals. Just not lots of craziness. Haha.
I'm sadly not really a fan of Christmas movies. It's like I've seen it all before you know? But Doctor Who always comes out around then, so I watch that. Speaking of, I had a near fit of madness the other day while Christmas shopping. I saw Doctor Who series on sale for $70 (keep in mind they're usually over $100). I was so tempted!! I nearly caved, but then I realized, no I'm broke, haha. I still wish I had bought The Next Doctor, but oh well, next time. Do you ever get those bursts of shopping madness?
Got to run, homework, ugh, haha, bye!

I do like scarves. In fact I have a favourite scarf that I wear every day. It's the Anderson tartan, and I got it in Edinburgh castle, I love it! Do you have a favourite scarf or hat or pair of gloves? I'm not a fan of earmuffs, I think they're cool, I just can't hear anything with them on, haha.
My Mum has a very sizable snowman collection. She also has one of those ginormous nutcrackers (do you have one of those?). And a lot of holly and garlands, stuff like that. I'm not really involved in the decorating. And I don't decorate my bedroom, not enough room, haha! What kinds of lights do you use? Coloured or white?
Ah! 37 (now 36) days? Seriously?!?! I need to get shopping! I really only have to get my Dad a gift, and then some candy to make the price quota, but otherwise I'm done. You still shopping?
Hey that big sale weekend is coming up for you guys isn't it? The one that gets people severely injured? Will you be doing some shopping then?
Got to run! Toodles!

Oh no! I hope everything's alright with your dog!
When Mitzi or Mikey are sick usually my Mum takes them to the vet, but occasionally I do. Thankfully they haven't had to go to the vet too much.
I'm guessing snowshoeing is just like intense hiking, or that's what I hope! Haha, I've never been but I'm excited. We were supposed to go back in like grade seven, but it didn't snow in time. Oh well.
Right now I'm reading a book called AIDS Activist. It's actually really good. It's basically just the general 'how AIDS started and what people did about it' type thing, but it also focuses primarily on one activist from Canada, it's really interesting. What about you?
I get to go to Old Navy tonight, yay! I need some more sweaters, it's starting to get chilly. Have you got all your winter wear ready? Do you prefer mittens or gloves? I wear my hobo gloves right now, but once it starts snowing I'll switch to my heavily duty Canada mittens. Speaking of patriotism, are you going to watch the Olympics at all? Have their been a lot of commercials for Olympic swag down there? There's tons here. And they're nice this year too, I might get a sweater.
Anyhoozles, got to run, bye!

Gosh I don't know who my favourite muppet is.. probably Rizzo. He's awesome. But yeah, the old guys are so funny!
We always get a real tree, and it goes in our den. I just love the smell of real trees, don't you? We usually put ours up the second week of December, just after the parade in town. Do you have an assortment of ornaments or do they all match?
This weekend all I did was work on my English project. It took us soooo long to do! We better get a good mark. Grr.. haha.
What catalogs you going through? I love the Sears Wishbook, I can't wait to get my copy! And the BBC catalog is always awesome.
For Christmas this year, I just want some books and movies and CDs. And a new ipod, mine is practically falling to pieces at the moment. How 'bout you?
We get 2 weeks off school for Christmas, is it the same for you guys? Coming back after break is horrid, because that's when everything is due, and we do so much review! (I HATE REVIEW!). But we've been given our project outlines earlier this year, so hopefully I'll have them all finished by then. Oh and a nice little treat is that I get to go snowshoeing! Yay! Have you ever done that?
Got to go, le hitra'ot!

Well "A Complicated Kindness" is about a girl growing up in a Mennonite town. It's actually pretty good, very funny. We're all done filming, now it's time to edit, yay. Haha.
Going to Grandma's was fun. It was a little awkward, 'cause there wasn't a big dinner, so I wasn't really involved in any conversations, haha. I'm not an adult yet, therefore I only get sympathy conversation, haha.
There was so much frost this morning! It was sooo cold. I'm betting for snow soon.
Let me know how Christmas Carol is, it looks good. But nothing can beat the Muppet version, am I right? Haha. Aw I miss the Muppets. Were/Are you a fan?
I've bought my brother's Christmas present and I'm pretty sure I know what I'm getting my Dad. Now just for Mum, probably a CD or something. My brother and I are going to get gifts for them together. Which means I'll be paying and he'll put his name on the card, haha. Any ideas for what we should get them?
How are the festive preparations going for you?
Got to run, Antio!

I wasn't in the hospital long, thank goodness. It was just overnight for the weekend. I scared the crap out of the docters with a 150 heart rate and my temp would jump from 103.7 to 96 in an hour. I never seen anyone rushed through the emergency area to a room faster then I did. I lost count how many times I got poked with a needle for something. It was at least ten. Then, lucky me, I had a doctors appoinment the next week and got four more shots. Lovely.

Unfortunatly, marching band is now over. I actually ended up missing the last competition from being in the hospital. That sucked.

So far my classes are going pretty well. They didn't change from first to second term this time. And I would say I did good first term. I had a 4.2 GPA, which is amazing cause I was probably offered a total of 10 points extra credit total for all my classes the whole term. Not sure how that happened, but I'm not going to argue.

I haven't really seen anything good lately. The last time I went to the theater was to see Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince....for the third time. I loved it! Other then that, I haven't really seen anything. Everyone is talking about Paranormal Activity. I am a believer of the paranormal, but I just think this movie looks stupid. My mom wants to see it though. And I would say talking about the Holidays now is a bit soon. I'm one of those people who really don't like Christmas music. Everyone gets started on the Holiday stuff right after Halloween, but when the day actually comes, it soars by..... I do love the Holidays though, other then the fact its winter in Iowa. The weather changes every hour around here. The winters are terrible! Last year, we had the worst ice storm in history, and everyone in towns were out of power for three days and country people were out at least a week. We had, I think, 15 snow days that year. That's a record. Unfortunatley, I heard this winter is supposed to be even worse....and I can see that too considering we had a blizzard a month ago. Heheh, it happened at a band competition, and that was the one we decided to sit outside for two hours and cheer for other bands. That is where I actually got sick. :P

Are the winters or summers bad where you are, or just right?
