Rock on, haven't posted in forever. Mostly I have just been really busy trying to make ends meet. There is not much to report. I did have a missed call on my phone yesterday while I was at work from an IT company that apparently might want to hire me, which is pretty rad. I gotta follow up on that this morning. Moving back into software development would, in all likelihood, double my income... also, probably result in a boss who has something other than disdain for my overall nerdiness. So, I…See More

"Have you tried Go? It is a 2-player strategy game (comparable to Othello, Chess, checkers...) which is very old but very fun."

Board Games

I need to expand my library of board games. My girlfriend is the only other person around here most of the time, and I only have like 2 games that can scale down to 2 people. Those games are Arkham Horror and Risk, neither of which she enjoys much. She's expressed interest in Agricola, so I will probably pick that up, but man I am seriously lacking in general board game staples. I mean yes, I love the more esoteric game store board games (also wtb Caylus, Dungeon Lords), but sometimes you have…See More

My hour of triumph approaches

After work today, I am going to march into that DMV with the fresh copy of my birth certificate, printed on colorful paper by the Kansas Department of Vital Statistics, and I am going to get my New York license! Seriously, what a runaround. My Maine license expires in like 4 days, and every time I go back to that office with a thing they said I needed, they're all like, "Oh this is isn't good enough, fictional young adult."Ugh, I just wanna be able to buy beer at Wegman's without a manager…See More

William Jennes replied to sabelmouse's discussion urban farming
"Discussions like this always remind me of the sort of folly of urban life. If there's not a farmer's market near your apartment or whatever, then you're probably getting all your food from the other end of the country. I'm not…"

Poorly thought-out super villains

A comment I posted in response to somebody implying that the United States possesses an official religion raised the following, tangentially-related, scenario in my mind:"Commissioner! Nega-Pope is going to reverse baptize every one who showers today if we don't stop him from blessing the city reservoir!"See More

The problem with cars

Ningmaster Tom's predicament is indicative of an unfortunate problem in our society - the automobile is a fantastically useful thing that is piloted by just about everybody. Just about everybody probably shouldn't be in command of 2 tons of metal moving through a crowded area.

It's frankly a hypocritical stance for me to take, as a I drive a car and depend on one for my livelihood at this time. However, I am also an individual who is prone to bouts of sleep deprivation and general… Continue

Been forever

Once again, I have neglected my blog. Life has been hectic. I'm still trying to land a co-op so I can finish my degree. Pizza delivery in the meanwhile is not helping me achieve goals of any sort.

I'm glad to hear that Ningmaster Tom is starting to recover. Nobody deserves to suffer like that. The whole situation has made me think a lot about our automotive-centric culture, and I will probably post about it later today.
