Blurbing Book Club! 13 Little Blue Envelopes

I really like this book and devoured it in two days. I also gave my copy to one of my students....I almost had to then take it away because she started reading it in class. Anyway, here is my attempt to summarize my many overflowing thoughts into 10 words or less. A real challenge for some one who has always been forced through all of school to stretch a statement.

I've been thinking about your comment about grime in 13 BE. I think it is rather significant. I mean, at the beginning she walks into Richard's bathroom and is disappointed that there is no shower. She is even embarrassed about taking a bath. Add the fact that she has no way to dry her hair and you have her discontentment of Richard's house. Skip to the end where she is so happy to be in the bath and she completely relaxes in the tub.

I think Ginny's grime parallels Pegs emotional journey. Peg left Richard because she felt vulnerable/uncomfortable but came back to him at the end as she realized he was her true safe haven.

These were my deep thoughts as I was doing the dishes tonight. Thanks for inspiring them!

PS--I think the shower(?) in Amsterdam with the return to the dirty clothes could play into it too, but I haven't thought it through that much.

The book club was my motivation for officially joining the ning. I just finished the book this morning...but no, I don't see the book club anywhere. I sort of concluded that Hank would post a new video and we would "blurb" in the comments.
