Chua Si Wen, Alicia commented on Shaena Rose Tallman Sellsted's group Nerdfighters Who LOVE ParamoreHello, there! Some of our fellow Nerdfighters and I have been brainstorming intensively--what if we had a way to recognize that someone you see on the street is a Nerdfighter? Well, now we do (possibly).
Here are some of the ideas we've accumulated, along with the proud Nerdfighters who've supplied them;
-To wear DFTBA wristbands, or homemade bracelets saying DFTBA (such as with letter beads). Original idea by Kathleen Konno, built upon by Jacqui. As a continuation of…

Hey Nerdfighters, I know that I've never ever ever ever blogged on here, but all the ideas in my head are about to burst forth in a cascade of blood and Nerd-brain. Well I'm not going to let them flow here, blathering on and on about the stuff going on in my head, so I'm in the process of making my very own blog! Seriously, I have another tab open on my computer and I was in the middle of typing my first post.
But anyways, I'm in need of some help...once I'm done with my first blog…

Matt N. said… so I am still looking for more people. We will start in A week, but I will have a book list and website resource list for you tomorrow. All the books that I bought I got at half price books, which is a second-hand bookstore in the US. For you I would suggest Amazon.com unless you can find them at a local store for cheap. I would much rather neither of you pay more than $10 per book.
The best thing to do to get started is to learn the to alphabet systems called the Hiragana and the Katakana. They are collectively known as the Kana. There are 48 characters in each system. Both systems are identical in sounds, but the symbols are different. For now, do not concern yourself with the Kanji, that is the 8000-some Chinese character- based system that is used in Japanese. We'll get in to that after we all have material to work from.
Aside from the language I will be learning the cultural and historical aspects of the Japanese, if you wold like to learn that as well you are more than welcome to join me. I plan to do this so that at the end of learning I will be able to travel there and not make a fool of myself.
Lastly, I'd love to know a little about both of you and whoever else might want to join us, so please tell me a little about the two of you. As for me my name is Matt Nissenbaum, I am 25 and live just north of Chicago. Everything interests me and so I am a fount of random information. The last book I read was Lullaby by Chuck Palahniuk, I am currently reading The Chrysanthemum And The Sword by Ruth Benedict. I am the middle of 5 brothers and really badly want to go and live in Japan. I have been there once, but only in Tokyo and only for a few days back in 2000.
Anyways I have to get back to work. I send you both that list tomorrow. Do try to get some of the books if you can. Until tomorrow, sayonara.
