WoldSuck in Middle School Classrooms
In all the places to look for WorldSuck, it’s hard to believe that one would find it in a middle school classroom.
The truth is that many schools today aren’t funded like they need to be. As a teacher I work in a district that has both “magnet” and “non-magnet” schools. Magnet schools are schools that have a special emphasis on things – like technology, or the arts, or math and science. As a result the magnet schools get extra funding.
The district expects the non-magnet…

Dietrich Bonhoeffer, The Cost of Discipleship, and my views on interreligious dialogue
I began reading Dietrich Bonhoeffer's biography along with the man's The Cost of Discipleship a few weeks ago. As I read it, I became profoundly inspired by Bonhoeffer, as well as challenged. Bonhoeffer was born in 1906 to a family of scientist, musicians, and scholars in Germany. He became a theologian, paster, founder of the confessing church, spy, and eventually martyr. He worked to assist Jews in Nazi controlled Germany and was part of numerous plots to assassinate Hitler…

Paper Towns
John Green's Paper Towns brings about a number of questions and provokes contemplation of the most important ideals. I think its greatest strength is how it portrays Whitman's ideals from Song of Myself. I am no Whitman expert at all, but John encourages the reader to realize individuality as well as interconnectedness between people. In the end, we find that each character (in particular Q and Margo) are defined by their individual wills and characters as well a. We find that Q is a person…

Sponge Crushers
The term “sponge crushers” originates from the story Ministry of Morgasm by author Richard Buzzell. In this story an organized group of sponge crushers makes some controversial claims about the effects of enhanced female pleasure. These group members are referred to as sponge crushers because of their focus on stimulation of the spongy tissue in the female body.
Some of this group’s claims pertain to the possibility of attaining another level of female pleasure which they refer…

Ever heard of Stinky Pinky?
It’s a game. I am the master at it. It’s a little complicated to explain, but I’ll try. So, you come up with two words that rhyme- like fat cat. And then you come up with synonyms for those two words- like obese feline- and tell the other players. Then they have to guess what the two rhyming words are. I don’t know if that makes any sense. But I’m pretty super at this game. I know my words. Symbolic tree? Pine sine. Silent mob? Quiet riot! Bird car? DUCK TRUCK. I win, every…

First Blog Post Ever!
Hello Nerdfighters of the World,
My name is Becca Alien... yes... that's not my real name. It's called internet safety and although I highly doubt any of you would hunt me down, I have a fairly uncommon last name and seeing how it is fairly uncommon it is fairly likely that I'm one of the only people in my town with the last name. Therefore I don't want to risk people looking up my last name and coming to my house.
Anywho, as said, I'm Becca. Feel free to…

The Only Ship, the Only Wreck

Listen, Jena, I want to dig more into the scale of adventure. You know Daniel Defoe was sort of the father of the novel, but J.M. Coetzee's Foe goes after Defoe's best book, exploring the reasons we must tell stories, showing how details keep us speaking and listening.
Before…

Suction Cups
Went to the store with the Mom today and saw a GAINT jar of nutella! Of course I had to pull out my vid camera and get a shot of it, this then turned into a filming of other such oddities in the shop like sheep heads and legs, hooves still attached.
Yes, I did get stared at but hey, everyone gets to feel like a tourist once in a while. :)
On a side note, I had no idea that you could buy jars are creepy different colored mini octopuses labeled Kraken. (yes, I know that’s…

Hurray a title that isn't long or anything.
This is a new blog, I now run two, with VERY FEW FOLLOWERS.
It's good because the people I have following me on Tumblr are basically my only friends in this living world.
There are a few out of that, like my friend who likes D&D, and Elder Scrolls, which makes him basically the best living guy on the face of the earth, because he's THE ONLY GUY BESIDES ME WHO LIKES these genres.
I would've said that all in one breath. That is terrifying.

Kinda Wish I Knew What To Write About... Eheh
I like music a lot. I also like politics a LOT. And I also love comedy. I really want to have all of these as a profession but I hate having to pick and choose ;-;. I think I'm just gonna go with becoming a comedian. I love to write funny things and make people laugh. Also it seems like the least corrupt business out of the three. Comedy, actually just performing alone, is something I've always found fun and fascinating. I love to see the reaction I can get and build something more…

Book Review: Two Kisses for Maddy, by Matthew Logelin
I'm not going to do my usual sort of review (not that any of my reviews are really the same but whatever) simply because this is a memoir, not fantasy or even just fiction. I felt I should branch out a bit. And since it is a true story, this will be a short review, because I'm not going to be talking about like, writing style and my favourite characters and whatnot.
It is an adorable story, and sad. Written by a man whose wife died the day after giving birth to their daughter,…

Please, donate to Eyes Alight!
I don't know if I may be asking to much of people here but I urge you all to donate to the wonderful, worthy, inspiring charity that is Eyes Alight. This charity suprisingly means quite a lot to me and I hope you all share my opinion that raises money for them. So if you do n the odd occasion have a bit of spare change, £1, £10, £100, I truly do urge you to donate it to this charity as I have never really seen a charity that could deserve it more. (P4A is also like this).

Let the show begin!
So I'm currently sitting in the (rather noisy) school drama room. Well, room and room, it's more of a large hall full of a bleacher, a stage and a bunch of random pieces of props standing around. As you might've guessed, we're doing a show tonight. Although it is only a rehersal show for our familys, we all take it pretty seriously.
*random people jam on stage* *people playing computer games* *me writing this*
Safe to say, we're not that nervous. There really is no point in…
