TubeArts: Art and Writing Contest on YouTube: $500 prizes! (and I'm a judge)

A little while ago Jack Danyells emailed me to ask if I wanted to be a judge in the TubeArts contest. I was a little skeptical at first, but it didn't take long for me to see how dedicated Jack was to the idea and the mission. So I signed on and now it's officially launching!

The contest exists as a way to discuss how art and writing fit into the internet age. And since YouTube doesn't even have an art and…

Friend Requests!! Or, How to Make Friends on the Ning Thing...

Friends are awesome!! We all love friends... SO, I have some "friending" advice for all you lonely Nerdfighters out there:

DO explore and comment on someone's page before sending a friend request, so they know who you are!

DON'T just randomly send friend requests without first introducing yourself. It's a little like spamming someone, really. I have no context and don't know why you'd like to be my friend - a little help?

The friend request window… Continue

How John Green helped me solve seventeen across

I've always liked that word. It's a pretty word and a funny word all at the same time. It falls into that category of fun words to say. Like Utica or Schenedaty. It's a word that just begs to be stretched out over the tongue, so each syllable plays through the air.

But that said, I don't really believe in serendipity. I mean yeah, some people are luckier than other people, and some people have a cosmic "kick me" sign plastered across their back with Super… Continue

Nerdfighter Wedding

Okay, well, as some of you already know, Nerdfighter Elizabeth and I are engaged and getting married in May. And, while Brotherhood 2.0 was not responsible for our meeting, it was something that we could share, which then inspired our year long pursuit of vlog nirvana. John and Hank are directly responsible for getting us into vlogging. So, while the Nerdfighters didn't bring us together in a nuclear reaction of awesome, a… Continue

Distemper Album in the Mail

w00t! Russian Nerdfighter Maya was recently in St Petersburg and decided to pick me up a copy of the new(ish) Distemper album! So Awesome!!!

For those of you who don't know, Distemper is the band that played during the middle portion of the Happy Dance Project (video below.)

God I never get tired of watching that. The song that isn't by Wynflete is by Distemper. Here's what Maya had to say in her note.

Hank - Hanks to the Happy…

What did Hank Do Today!

Howdy Nerdfighters. You know what I never do anymore? Write frikkin blog posts! Once upon a time...I wrote blogs all the time...and not just breaking news on solar bubbles and cellulosic ethanol either. Just stuff about my life! But then I had B20, and it satisfied the need. And now I don't (as much) have that! So I've got to blog!

  • So what happened today! I started reading "Making Money" the new Terry Pratchett book.
  • I took a Nerdfighter suggestion and listened (and am…

A Quick Question For Nerdfighters

Usually I don't see this stuff, because I use Firefox, but today while browsing with Safari I came across this . . .

I honestly have no idea what to say about being chosen as the first book (well, author . . . I'm not a book) for the Nerdfighters Blurbing Book Club.

I think this is one of the nicest things that's ever happened to me.

I mean, if Oprah picks you, then eleventy jillion people buy your book, and Wal-Mart features you, and you get your own lunchbox and missile silo. You have no idea who is reading the book.

But this . . . when a few thousand of your Nerdfighting… Continue
