Book of the Moment #1

Currently reading Girl in the Arena by Lise Haines (Don't ask me to pronounce that, I have no clue).

Pretty good book, as of page.....294/324. I'm writing these before the ending so I don't have any MAJOR spoilers. Anyways, I kind of am frustrated do the the fact that there seems to not be enough clarification in some parts. Such as the fact that we (maybe just me (I sometimes tend to skip)) don't know all that much about Uber (Do you really pronounce the name…

Communication is Key...

One thing I have noticed when it comes to Nerdfighters is that, as a community we are well connected to one another. Problem is that the site itself is the main way people stay in contact. So when something happens for example the Ning deciding they want to work on maintenance when it is most inconvenient for the rest of us, that contact shuts down. I received around about 43 e-mail's asking about what happened to the site. It was frustrating to have to e-mail everybody back with the…

Petrichor

I heard this word and decided i needed to write a story about it. Petrichor is the smell of dry earth after rain and literally translates from the Greek as blood of the earth. It was also featured in Dr. Who

Petrichor by D. Brennan

The clouds mingled in the air with dying light of…

The princess and the tin box

The Princess and the Tin Box

James Thurber

Once upon a time, in a far country, there lived a King whose daughter was the prettiest princess in the world. Her eyes were like the cornflower, her hair was sweeter than the hyacinth, and her throat made the swan look dusty.

From the time she was a year old, the Princess had been showered with presents. Her nursery looked like…

Vlog one - Thoughts on vlogging and my first attempt

A fellow nerdfighter convinced me to started to up a vlog.

In which I try to tell you a little about who I am and what I do, and succeed at neither. The next one will have a real subject though, I promise!

The main reason I'm starting this up is to improve my public speaking really, or maybe just my speaking in general. When I'm watching accomplished youtubers I can't help but notice how engaging…

Book Review: Among Others, by Jo Walton

Well there is no denying that this was a very interesting book, just the writing style if nothing else.  The book is written like a journal, a journal that Mori is writing (in mirror, apparently).  Now, that's not unusual, of course (the journal part), but what's unusual is that I actually didn't figure that out until about fifty pages in.  I was getting slightly muddled by the tenses (past tense most of the time, but then present tense at the end of each section/chapter) before I realized…

Hello Nerdfighteria!

This is going to be my intro blog (blog intro?) so if that's not the kind of thing you're interested in you are more than welcome to move on to something more intriguing. No hard feelings.

My name is Natasha. I'm a 21 year-old resident of British Columbia, Canada. I am a book lover. I've been reading for as long as I can remember and I will probably read until the day I die. That actually…

Late! I'm Sorry! You can Punish Me in Comments!

Good evening, Nerdfighters,

So today I’m actually going to write a real post unlike my last minute I-don’t-know-what-to-talk-about one yesterday. I am sorry about that, really.

So the weekend is pretty much here, and that makes me happy. Even though I won’t be making videos on the weekends, I will try to write substantial blog posts, which I…

What a girl wants...a rant.

I hear guys whine all the time.." But why do girls go for the asshole,  rather than a good guy like me!?!?"  I heard this through out the time I was dating, and even still from my single guy friends.  Call me crazy, maybe it's not everyone else maybe its you. It's so much easier to be a victim in life than an antagonist.  I hope to trouble-shoot some things, and maybe help you realize what you might be doing wrong.

First, look at your grooming habits.  Girls rarely go for slobs.…

Online Video about Online Video

In which Hank does not show you lots of clips from VidCon because that would just be mean...also because there's no way he'd have enough time to edit a vlog like that in time to put it online.

Good lord I am tired, but VidCon is awesome, I wish you were all here.

Give Me Some Hope, Guys

Reaction to Death of the Liberal Class by Chris Hedges

I can’t even call this a review because it isn’t really. If you want to know whether or not I liked the book, I did, plain and simple. I liked it because it made me think and it made me…

The Egg

Just a short preamble this was inspired by a line from Bill Hicks that went we are one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. So here you go enjoy.

The Egg

By Daniel Brennan

Adam was cruising along in his average family saloon when through an all too prevalent defect with the braking system he slammed into a typical oak and as is commonplace with this type of collision his brain ricocheted around his skull and disintegrated like it had been in…

Do it for You.

I was putting together my newest video for my vlog, and after watching the beginning, I realized that it may turn people away because it is odd, and may be "slow" for some. But then I thought about it, and remembered, its for me, not for them.

Whenever you make something personal and put it out there for the world, you can't help but once in a while…
