Half the Sky has been described as 'a brutal awakening' and is a bestseller in the US. But can its accounts of violence and injustice to women in the
developing world really come as such a surprise?…

Happy Birthday HP
Today, if you didn't know already, is Harry Potter's birthday.
I love Harry Potter. I love him with a burning passion equivalent to that of a thousand suns. Not that that is overdramatic or anything. I have nearly exhausted my HP worship in my concentrated month long study of Harry Potter as documented on my blogspot account but the HP love is something I can always talk about. It's something that has been constant and reliable in my life for almost ten years.
I…

Stuffed and Starved by Raj Patel, Analysis of Chapter 6: Better Living Through Chemistry
During the Cold War, India wanted to experiment with a program of sharing land between the government and the people. America also thought that they were in danger of falling to communism.
Like in the previous chapter, the response was for America to launch a
program of food and monetary aid. This caused the native production of
wheat to fall because they could not compete with the US aid program.
In order to keep India from falling to communism,…

OMG I'm blogging without video!
Hello Nerdfighters, I'm CompleteSeanage but you can call me Sean. I, like many NFighters, am a vlogger, and regular blogging feels weird to me, but it's better than a diary. You see, I never understood why someone would write about their day but keep it somewhere where no-one can see it, it just seems like a waste. And although not many people will see this, I like that at least they can. I lead a balanced life of interesting and boring things, so want a way of sharing those…

Why I Became a Nerdfighter
What initially drew me to the VlogBrothers -- and to Nerdfighteria in general -- was the philosophical aspect. The introspective quality mixed with light hearted nerd humour was a method of thinking very near to my heart and I was instantly hooked. I love how hopeful the vlog can be, it's done a lot to restore my faith in humanity. Right around the time I discovered the boys a few months back, I was beginning to crawl out from under the rock I'd taken refuge beneath when University started…

Demon Four Year Old
In which Hank mostly talks about is crazy-pants nephew, but also about cultural vs. genetic evolution, and the fact that we all sometimes forget that we are not normal, and that most people are not like us, but that does not mean that we can't love and support each other.
