Eric, My Peculiar Hero
415 Wood Avenue is a very unremarkable house. It is a classic brown brick Cincinnati 4-square with white shutters and a small covered front porch with cement stairs. An adolescent-looking oak tree sits to the left of a thin walk that leads to the front door. The house being modest and practical-looking, it is easy to notice little things happening there: things like the wagon.
For the past three nights, someone has left a little red wagon blocking…

EPIK Orientation was great. It was so invigorating being around all the new teachers. My presentations went well and I was shocked by how well they were recieved by the new teachers, who turned out to be ravenous for information. I met some wonderful people and greatly appreciated the positive energy.
I was talking with the manager on the last night. He could not speak much English but it turned out he spoke fluent Japanese. After asking me about what I thought of the orientation in…

I'm down to the final five in "Kat's Epic Quest to Read 600 books by the end of the Summer."
EPIC WIN!
The final five are as followed:
5. The Notebook: I loved the movie and found it to be completely amazing so I finally decided to read the dang book. Slightly failish but I'm catching up.
4. Looking for Alaska: John Green, do you need more than that?
3. An Abundance of Katherines: Agian, John Green.
2. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Its Harry Potter…

...and not just adding this to the list of blogs I have and don't use. Well, what can I talk about?
The Nerdfighting Blurbing Book Club
I'll easily admit I haven't properly read in a while. And I haven't read critically since I left school. Studying Physics in college rarely requires critical analysis of literature.
For a book with such a depressing story it was very enjoyable to read. Holden was such a relatable character, who all he wanted to do was…

Okay! I haven't posted on this thing in forever, but I figured I'd put this out there real fast. I'm here, in San Francisco. The plan landed okay, I'm all settled into my dorm, got all the basics set up and everything. I'm waiting to get the rest of my stuff shipped to me from home, which will be nice. Then I can fully settle in, and eat something other than peanut butter and jelly. :-D
School starts on the fourth, and in the meantime, I don't have anything else that I HAVE to do…

Well I am in a more positive frame of mind now. Yay. I am not getting a visa. Boo. I have to go back to the US BOO.
But, as the saying goes the world is my oyster. To be more specific, the USA is my or because as muc as I would like to think so... the world is not open to being my oyster. Sigh...
But yeah, going back stateside. Here are some questions: where am I going? what will i do? will i find a job? where will that be?
The answer to all of those is I have…

(Warning: Not my best work.)
“it’s cold”
I said, with my toes just barely dangling in the air.
I thought of how I could simply fall through and never come back, but it wasn’t really a possibility; only a thought.
I sat with my fishing pole in my hands;
It was still new, and made with bits and pieces of self-confidence.
I used it to catch fleeting glances off people in the streets, and draw out the truth between the letters that made up everyday…

So, today I rode my bike to Barnes and Noble (I don't have the luxury of a car since I am a lowly college Frosh) and I realized that I actually really like to ride my bike. Ever since I got my liscence, I haven't really been on a bike ride, but its a lot of fun.... once you get past all of the peds in the bike lane (which is extremely annoying). So, anyways... I was at B&N and I was actually looking for stuff for my Japanese 101 class when I "happened" upon the YA section and "accidentally"…

From my 'to-read' list, so far I've read:
-Dirty Liar -Brian James
-An Abundance of Katherines -John Green.
[And am currently reading White Oleander]
Yes, I realize this doesn't even make a dent. But I'm working on it.
So what I thought,
Dirty Liar:
The mind of Benji aka Dogboy [the main character], works a lot like mine, and I was afraid what that would mean. Dogboy is a classic outcast, living in the shadows of society, seeing the world in…

Or, Totally Tragedies.
Dear Guy Who Keeps Coming Into Our Suite:
I do not mind you staying here. Really. I don't even mind if you spend the night (just stay the hell out of my room). But please--PLEASE--put the toilet seat back down! YOU ARE IN A LADIES' DORM ROOM. WE DO NOT PEE WITH THE SEAT UP. RAAAAAAR.
Love,
The Macro
