December 2011 Blog Posts (210)

Let's do something!

Hello there reader of this blog post, I am Adam Moskowitz and I had a New Year's resolution. That resolution was to be more active within the Nerdfighter community. I've wanted to do this for a while and I decided to start now because New Year's is a time to start things new and seeing how I really never did much on this site, that would make this technically be new. I hope this very simple first blog post was okay because it's all I'm going to write, for now.

So good night/day and…

New Years!

Happy New Years and all that! Tomorrow is going to be a new year and I'm going to have trouble adjusting from "2011" to "2012". I feel like I've only just gotten used to saying 2011, too!

So, tomorrow I might be making my first vlog and I'm a little bit nervous but way excited. I even cleaned my room up a bit! I think I'll clean a bit more tomorrow seeing as I am super tired right now.

Yes, it's 1 PM and I'm like "Dude I'm going to bed, I'm beat." but shhhhh.

I sleep…

My Top Ten Books of 2011

OK folks. It's the end of the year and the time where everyone gathers together their lists of the top books they've read throughout 2011. And here is mine.

I don't think that there are many surprises here, I feel like I've been quite vocal about my love for each of these books. Some though, I've really struggled to find the words to express that, and for that I'm sorry. On with the list though... (in no particular order!)…

Happy New Year!

The whole being a day ahead of the rest of my Americans never ceases to amuse me. Especially on New Years and Christmas. Though New Years is the best by far. Getting to talk to friends in the states and ask, 'So, how's 2011 treating you? 2012 is looking pretty fantastic over here.' Can't get much better than that!

Now on to the reason for posting today, Super 8.

About a month ago I started Super 8 but wasn't able to finish due to the flight I was watching it on…

How to Tip Properly

In which Hank shares his personal rules for tipping, discusses why we do it, and how it kills time lords...and then he says the word Poohster.

Impressions

Hooray I have finished my profile on this glorious website and now I've found out through on of John's older videos that I can write a blog post, so I might as well do that.  This website is so shiny and new and there is a photograph in the sidebar of Hank with a comparison shot of Commissioner Gordon, and a bunch of Dr. Who pictures, and Homestuck fanart, and what is that infernal beeping noise?

So I realize I probably shouldn't use this as a place to thought dump, but that…

The Cupboard of Words

So, for a while we have been planning to downsize from our wonderful memory-filled house in Walters Falls.  My mom sold the house, and soon after I came home for Christmas holidays, found a lovely apartment in Owen Sound to rent.  It has three bedrooms, a spacious kitchen and living room, and a bathroom.  MY ROOM HAS A RANDOM CUPBOARD IN ONE WALL.  A HUGE CUPBOARD WHICH I CAN EASILY SIT IN, AND WHICH IS CARPETED AND HAS THIS SLANTED PART I CAN LEAN ON VERY COMFORTABLY.

This is one of…

VERY INTERESTING For Harry Potter Fans

FIRST POST!!! :D Hi. I come with something that I think all Nerdfighters (especially, but not limited to, the Harry Potter fans among us) will find extremely thought-provoking: an interview by Mugglenet with Professor John Granger, who recently uncovered the entire brilliant structure of the Harry Potter series. It is a Ring cycle, sort of like a complex series of mirrors within mirrors. And yes, JKR meant to do it, like the mad genius she is. As I will probably ruin the entire thing trying…

A First Post: What to Write?

Oh hello! I didn't see you come in! Please, have a seat as you embark on a magnificent journey known as my sentence structures. You may not know where they go, but believe me, they will confuse you and end with you asking questions like, "Why?" and "No." Granted, no is not a question, but still, my sentence structures will do something to you.

OK, moving on from that weird bout of insanity. As you may have guessed, this is my first time blogging in the Nerdfighter ning. I have…

My camcorder and me

I made a second video blog!

I bought a camcorder! I then went away for the weekend with friends and shot some footage and when I got home I recorded what you're watching now. And then I didn't do anything with it for two weeks, so the weekend I mention: not Christmas.

I have no clue why the white balance is so off in parts of this video, the light…

The Festive Season and the things I think about during.

Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanzaa, Happy Hanukkah, and all other religious holiday greetings to all others who happen to be reading this blog, and if anyone isn't really celebrating this holiday season, good day, sir or madame.

That was probably the longest greeting I've ever written for such a small audience (implying I've ever written to an audience to begin with). Anyway, how was your last few days? Mine were, for a lack of a better word,…

Blogging?

 Hey there!

Just wondering if anyone could offer any eyes to read something over? So I'm reaaaaaaaaaaaally into (see how long that really stretched out, i think that shows how much i like it) blogging. I think it would be something really cool. However, I don't know if I'm using the right sites and what-not. I have a blogger account and it is WILDLY popular *cough cough* so, you know if you do want to have a read. I know i know so many posts right? But, I've only just…

The Fault in Our Stars and How I almost had it...

Only you, nerdfighteria can possibly understand how I feel right now. I went to indigo to do a quick return and while I was waiting for the clerk to run it through I glanced over to a box next to the computer. A box full of see-through plastic bags containing BLUE HARDCOVER BOOKS!!!! Naturally I said "The fault in our stars is here????" (although in my head it was more like "THE FAULT IN OUR STARS IS HERE!!!>!?>!?!?!!???") then she said "This book?" to which I replied "Yes, I preordered… Continue

Book Review: "Paper Towns" by John Green

Out of all of John Green’s books, for some unknown reason Paper Towns was the one I wanted to read the most. Unfortunately I couldn’t find it at any library near by. Then my made-of-awesome brother (TheGinge) gave it to me for Christmas! It surpassed whatever expectations I had for it (not sure what those were) and it is definitely my favourite John Green book so far. I was walking around the house singing “This is such a good book, oh my lordy this is such a good boooooooook”. I…
