NerdFighters, our chat room has become unusable. The decepticons and the posters of porn have taken it away from us. The decepticons can be easily muted and ignored. Any ideas on how to take back our chat room and banish the posters of ickiness? Is there a way to stop so few from spoiling it from so many? Should we suggest to Hank that he remove the Chat area from our Nerdfighteria?

This week I did something I said I'd never do...I got a tattoo.
For many people it came as a shock. My friends and coworkers took bets on whether I'd chicken out or not. My own sister called me 20 minutes before she was supposed to meet me to ask me if she was wasting her gas money.
Her gas was not wasted. I have been talking for a while about getting a tattoo. When I entered college I didn't really believe in them and then I became friends with my best friend Michelle. Her…

Alright, well, I don't know how many people on here are from northern Indiana, but we've been getting some bad flooding up here. On New Year's, we got about 8 inches of snow. And then the next day, we got more! So when it finally stopped snowing, we had about a foot at least. Well, once the sun came out and it started warming up, the snow was quickly melted and the ground well-saturated.
Well on Tuesday, we got a HUGE lightning storm! It stormed all through the night and a good chunk…

I'm pretty sure I shouldn't bring my computer to class anymore. It's so distracting and I haven't paid any attention in class.
And now it's almost over. Eek. I'm not sure I learned anything so far. My computer is definitely staying in my bag for my next class.
But first I want to post this blog.
And this picture.
I think I'll title it Good Morning Hair.

This is how my hair often looks in the morning. I hope it…

Ok, ok I know not the nerdish thing to do BUT I finished my short story last year so while the others are writing short stories I can goof off a little.
So I'm half way through Looking for Alaska (people were right it's better than An abundance of Katherines) And I have to say it's awesome. Awesome doesn't actually cover how much I'm into the book. John (if you're reading this, which I doubt) you're a literary genius! I can not wait to go home (last lesson of the day, nothing to do…

One of our local theatre companies is producing The Laramie project. If you aren't familiar with it, here is the
link. It's one project to reduce world suck, to end hate crimes be making us aware of our own issues. I'll hopefully have some clips from the production or even better, there is a discussion after the play, and it'll be pretty good. That's all 4 now.

It is DEFINITIVE: Terrier and yours truly will be attending the Nerdfighter meeting in London on January 19th! We've got our flight and acommodation all sorted out, and are really excited about meeting all the Nerdfighters who attend it!
But when I thought how we'd all meet there and greet each other, an existential doubt creeped into my mind. You see, I'm not sure how I should greet the Nerdfighters!
In Spain, it is customary for women to kiss anyone they are introduced to on…

are next week. I think the stress and pressure of school are finally catching up to me. I feel overwhelmed with the workload and every day I procrastinate the higher the chance everything will come crashing down on me. I don't know. Ok, ok, so I'm not a full IB student and I have nothing to complain about, but the fact that I'm a perpetually lazy, dysfunctional person kind of makes up for that. Hence, the academic blues. I've reached a point in my life where I would really, really, really,…

I am probably the only Nerdfighter in all of Nerdfighteria who, after discovering B2.0 and realizing just how awesome John and Hank are, did not want to read either of John's books.
Now I should explain that this was not because I thought that John would probably be a bad writer or because his books sounded uninteresting--rather it was because I really, really wanted to like his books and I was afraid that I would not. You see, YA literature and I really do not get along very well…

Ladies and Gentlemen of the class of '97... wear sunscreen.
If I could offer you only one tip for the future, sunscreen would be IT.
The long term benefits of sunscreen have been proved by scientists whereas the rest of my advice has no basis…

"Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgment that something else is more important than fear." - Ambrose Redmoon
Slowly
through the year I've been discovering a bit more of myself, and what I
want to do with my life. I've come up with some fantastic ideas that I
feel I have been too afraid to explore further, however passionate I
seem about it. While working at my cuby (cubicle office job) I came
across the article below about a man trying out 52…

One
of the songs from "The Little Mermaid" popped into my head this
morning, and it got me thinking about how all of the Disney movies
(back in my day, atleast) always encouraged kids to follow their dreams
and believe in themselves, even when obsticles stand in their way.
It's
a common thing to show your kids these films, and to tell them "you can
do anything you want to do," and yet as the years pass this turns into
"you need to get into a good college,…

I read a theory someone had about how our "free will" isn't actually
free at all. From what I understand, the gist is that the chemicals in
your brain are controlling all that you do, based on our natural instincts and basic science. I have a hard time agreeing with this, but
then I also find myself wondering if it's true or not.
Out
of what seems like nowhere, you have a panic attack that spawns into
suicidal thoughts and rash decisions to run away from the cause…

On my way home from work yesterday I had a crazy calm come over me as I was listening to
Aqueous Transmission
from Incubus and admiring the perfect weather. By perfect, I mean the beginning of a thunderstorm where the skies are a little darker, the air
is a little cooler, and the wind blows leaves across the landscape
while the birds fly away for safety and…

It is a thought I just had...
Sadness never lasts, just as
happiness will soon fade to misery at some point or another. It's a
constant cycle in our lives that we go through, be it just for a day,
or maybe even for 5-10 years. I'm not talking about
karma, necessarily, but the nature of the world.
Change
is inevitable. It comes and goes season to season, year to year,
moment to moment. Each and every second of your life…

I've heard it so many times. "This isn't the way it's supposed to be."
It's not supposed to be any way. It just is. I believe the standard
society today has not only put a stone mold on how we should look, but
as well as how we should live. Go to school, get a career, marry a
successful beautiful person, and then have kids in suburbia and raise
them to do the same thing. How many of you have made choices you are
unhappy with because it's what someone else wanted,…

Suicide. It's a tricky subject. We all seem to be in very clearly
labeled brackets. We're either contemplating it, or we're shunning all
those who do.
I've
known so many people who have tried, or were so damn close to doing it
because they really felt it was the best option for them to take.
So
many people I know get angry at the thought, but I wonder if they ever,
for one second, put themselves in the other persons shoes.
I've
stopped many people…
