"The Killing Of Nerds"

As I was sitting in one of my morning classes, I had spare time. So, of course, I spent it on Ning. However, this is the first time one of my male friends had seen me on these website. He glanced over my shoulder a few times and saw the words "Nerd Fighters" at the top. He pulled off his headphones and gave me a very confused expression, simply trying to understand what I was doing. After I questioned him, he simply pointed to the website and asked. "Nerd Fighters?" When I responded yes, he…

Some Mind-Bending Earth GIFs

http://earthengine.google.org/#timela...

Google's new Earth Engine, powered by NASA's landsat satellites, gives a time lapse view of (pretty much) every land surface on earth over the last 25 years. The view is amazing, and inspiring, and at times terrifying.

It can be hard to understand the scale here, but…

My four years as a Tutor

"I am a tutor." That title that I had for all four years of my college life is gone. Today was my last day of tutoring for america reads. Basically every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon and this year the mornings as well I went to tutor. In all my four years I only missed one tutoring shift (I had to do something for a class). It was very important to me to be there for the kids. I worked with so many great students and teachers! I am so happy that I was able to be in a kid's life and be a…

General Writing Styles

When I picture someone telling me to read something, I picture reading a short story or a poem. I never, or rarely, think of someone asking me to read a poem, a blog, or any other writing style. In fact, I hardly use or even read blogs. Times'a'changing, I suppose. This is the first time I've ever seen a blog that isn't created by just one person -- it's created by many people collectively. That, I find, is creative.…

Let's Go Fly a Kite

This past Easter, my grandmother gave my three young cousin kites. Even though it was freezing, there was a good breeze going so us older grandkids (we'll always be in the kids category even most of us are in our 20s) took them outside and taught the youngins how to fly a kite. I brought my camera and here's what happened.

So...

I figured I'd use this little bloggy thing... Ack!  I sound like a ten year old.  Or someone who is trying to explain rather quickly, what happens in Doctor Who.

Anyway.  Figured I'd use this to post bits of a story I've started writing.

It's not the first, and not the last, but it is a first.  As I've never written romance before.

I've tried, several times, in just plotless random things.  And failed most times.  Meaning I generally shy away from the whole…

Book Haul | #1

Hi! This would be my first blog here so yeah. lol. My first blog post would be about my books which obviously I want to share with you. I am starting to collect books since last year and I have fifteen books overall.

My first book that my grandparents bought me was 'The Shack' by Willam Paul Young. This book will always have a special place in my heart because this was the book that I did a report on, on our English class.

Next is 'The Fault in Our Stars' by John…

Reading Is Hard, Writing Is Harder

(Note: this post comes from my blog at mosayic.wordpress.com.)

I just finished reading, in about 5-6 days, the following books by John Green: Looking for AlaskaAn Abundance of KatherinesPaper TownsWill Grayson, Will Grayson, and The Fault in Our Stars. I loved every single book. But like every book that I read and love, I go through this kind of withdrawal and sadness when I'm done.

First, each and every one of these books made…

Ajahn Brahm: A wonderful person.

I have been watching some of the recordings of talks by Ajahn Brahm, a buddhist monk. He is just an all around lovely human being and brings up excellent points. Today I was watching his video on depression with my beloved and we were both deeply moved by his words. He speaks with a lot of wisdom, but also with humor too. He tosses clever little jokes in everywhere which I think all of his viewers really enjoy.

Reaction to Cleveland's missing girls found

Holy. Cow.

Anyone who has spoken to me can tell you, it's pretty darn rare for me to be speechless. Tonight I am. Three young women who have been missing from Cleveland's community for 11, 10, and 9 years are free tonight, after being held against their will since they were all 20 years old or younger (two were teens).

Yes, this is going to be big national news. I'm not related to any of these women, though I share the emmense joy of their families.

Why…

Mail

So I just got my package in the mail. Which contained my DFTBA wrist band and my DFTBA Records Volume 3 CD, I got them first because they didn't cost a lot of money... which is something that I don't have right now.... But I am exited. Can't wait to listen to all of them, which is what I am going to do now.

The Great Gatsby *~*~**~*~~~* Now A Film?

I'm seeing so many adverts on YouTube for Gatsby: The Movie, I haven't finished the novel so I'd like some feedback on the release of the film... Are we excited for the movie? Nervous? Angry? Couldn't give a monkeys buns because you love Leo DiCaprio in everything? Have you already illegally downloaded it and are ready to give me a review? Where do you stand on this?

Story Time!

So yesterday I was in the shower and so my mom had  to pee, and I don't know why she couldn't just use the upstairs bathroom, but anyway she came in so my three year old brother came in so my dog came in, so I kind of had a Wizard of Oz moment like," please ignore the (wo)man behind the curtain." So yea, it wasn't fun.

Cancer sucks in so many ways

Though these past few days have been shared in blissful agony with my wondrous and ill-defined 'boyfriend', I suppose you could say, the dark cancer has been creeping back and seeping into our spells of happiness. On Tuesday another CAT scan is required from me. Though the actual process of the CAT scan is neither painful nor extraordinarily inconvenient, it's tedious and bothersome. Necessary? Yes? Annoying? Also an easy yes.

Now I'm not quite sure if all teenagers are like this but I'm… Continue
