My day

My day consisted of watching a lot of Vlogbrothers, most of which I have already seen, Scischow, missed a few episodes, crashcourse, and Hankschannel, I can't believe I hadn't subscribed to that yet I had seen videos, I know that, just guess I forgot to subscribe. Sold some of my old video games that I don't play anymore to fund the purchasing of a DFTBA wristband and DFTBA Records Volume 3 CD, hopefully I will get that soon... I think that is the first CD I have ever purchased... and it was…

A New Year, An Old Problem

Another New Year, another set of resolutions. I always joked my only resolution was to not make any resolutions. Few people actually carry out their self appointed tasks. This year has seen so much happen in terms of sport and the Olympics, the British Royal Family and the unfortunately numerous tragedies. Looking at all that and more makes you realise that only you can change many of your habits and actions, so why not give it your all this year? On a personal note this is something I have…

DFTBA Acronym Math

I'm working on a fun (for math/computer science nerdfigherts), and interesting (probably just to me) project on DFTBA acronyms, and this is one of the things that came out of it.

According to the Scrabble Dictionary:

There are 10,402 words beginning with D.

There are   7,138 words beginning with F.

There are   9,000 words beginning with T.

There are   9,973 words beginning with B.

There are 10,771 words beginning with A.

But I want to…

Halloween Competition Time and a Research Project...

So All Hallows Eve is approaching… The one night of the year where creatures that go bump in the night (and I am not just talking about Itai going to the bathroom) crawl out of the woodwork and lurk in search of prey… or just candy! It is a time of merriment and spooky fun as many people across the world don costumes themed on the occult and the scary to celebrate Halloween. In the spirit of this time of year we want to see just how creative the Nerdfighter community can be!

Today…

The New Girl.... In my pants

Yeah, so that was sort of the obligatory lame joke... Next come the other lame jokes. Just to warn everyone.

So, I am, in fact, a nerd girl. Apparently we are a great romantic resource, but I haven't experienced that just yet. As evidence of my nerdiness I pose that we examine my visit to Chicago this summer. Why yes, I did in fact travel over eight hours by plane to go to LeakyCon (and hopefully meet team Starkid and watch AVPSY).

It was at LeakyCon that I came to be… Continue

Want to help out a Nerdfighter trying to jump off of a bridge for charity?

Hello Nerdfighteria!

So...this is going to sound crazy (mostly because it is). But hear me out at least. In West Virginia there's an annual event called Bridge Day and people base jump off of the New River Gorge Bridge. Reckless? Certainly. Insane? Absolutely.

And I want to do it.

But I don't want to do it because I love thrill seeking. I'm…

Obligatory First Blog Post

Hello, hello!

So my name is Gabriel Iglesia, or just "Gabe." I'm currently heading into college, starting classes in October, and just about to head into the process of moving from my hometown of San Diego to the middle of Ohio. In the final days of high school, I had the idea of starting a blog detailing my journey after graduation and my thoughts down that road. I started such a blog several weeks ago on Tumblr (…

Thanks john

dear john,

I never was the kind of guy that read much,id rather play a videogame, watch TV or play rugby, but one day, as I was touring UK I saw the fault in our stars in a bookshelf and, being a nerd fighter, i felt I had to buy it.I had never read any book that wasn't imposed to me by my school, and this book reading thing was all new to me, but I decided to give your's a shot. I read the whole damn book in two days, and considering that my average reading speed is a page every two…

What Do Book Clubs Do for You?

Today, a three year old high school philosophy club and several years old book club that I ran last year as a senior, with a couple dozen members total, has lost administration support for content and a faculty sponsor.

Really? Does education really have to go that far? I understand if the teacher sponsor is busy and needs to step out because of a more important reason, but administration not looking for another faculty sponsor and disappointing a diversity of STUDENTS that all love…

7 Essential Work-Out Exercises for Nerds!

As Nerdfighters it is often asked what it means to be a Nerd? Well despite the various different types (e.g. Literary, Music, Animation) there are certain stereotypes that have stuck over the years. So we asked a Youtuber called Ding (Someone who knows what they are doing ^^) to create a video with a nerdy theme. It might help dispel some of those…

CHAPTER 1

She sat in the room quietly, her tried body now having trouble sitting up. The room she sat in wasn't to small, however, it felt so with the clutter lining the walls. Papers, files, the occasional plate or cup- which she guessed contained mold of some sort. The man in front of…

Communication is Key...

One thing I have noticed when it comes to Nerdfighters is that, as a community we are well connected to one another. Problem is that the site itself is the main way people stay in contact. So when something happens for example the Ning deciding they want to work on maintenance when it is most inconvenient for the rest of us, that contact shuts down. I received around about 43 e-mail's asking about what happened to the site. It was frustrating to have to e-mail everybody back with the…

The Fault in Our Stars, Again

Yes, this blog is about The Fault in Our Stars by John Green.

Yes, I know everything is about The Fault in Our Stars by John Green.

No, I don't think it is old. Nor do I think it will ever be old because it does not have the capability of being old. Have you forgotten that it was written byJohn Green? Let this serve as a reminder.

I read…

Possible Project: Random Happenings (...In Your Pants)

Yesterday I posted a blog post (which you can read here) explaining an idea I've had for a while. Whilst typing out my idea I realized how amazing this idea would be as a collaborative effort.

Basically I have a lot of poems, short stories, unfinished works, random ramblings and odd doodles and collages lying around. So I…
