Reflecting on the Paper Towns

i just finished reading John's fantastic novel Paper Towns, a story about a Walt Whitman poem. and now im gonna spew my thoughts onto this page to get them out of my head.

there will be spoilers so don't come crying to me

firstly, the book was fan-freaking-tastic. i haven't read very much in the past 6 years, but i have a strong feeling that books like these will drive me to do so in the future.

I found myself immediately feel drawn into Quentin, i…

Margo Roth Spiegelman

DISCLAIMER: I am not John Green, ergo none of this is definitively true, I’m just thinking aloud! This is just something I find interesting, after all as John says, books and reading become better when we read them closely. I am probably not the first person to realise this, and I know that John intended and has discussed some of this already.

Margo: Meaning Pearl.

Roth: Meaning…

Paper Towns by John Green

So I read this book a while back without even realising who the author was (I was not yet a nerd-fighter).  I made the connection recently while re-watching the entire 1st year of the vlogbrothers....I WENT BALISTIC : D. It was such an eye-opening and easy read (in the sense that it was so magnificently natural). I don't really have anything poetic to say at this point (because I am just not a poetic person) but I would love to hear what you guys think about it......

Paper Towns

So I've never really had the urge to do anything after reading a book. In fact, I've never had an urge after a book. If it's bad, I want to just sit and digest why it was so bad. If it was a good book, I want to meditate about why it was so good. After reading Paper Towns, though... It was odd.

I literally got up, and was about to post my feelings on the subject, when I just dropped my stuff and walked out the door. I walked for no more than ten minutes, but I just had to…

Some of my favorite quotes from John and his books(:

"Saying 'I notice you're a nerd' is like saying, 'Hey, I notice that you'd rather be intelligent than be stupid, that you'd rather be thoughtful than be vapid, that you believe that there are things that matter more than the arrest record of Lindsay Lohan. Why is that?' In fact, it seems to me that most contemporary insults are pretty lame. Even 'lame' is kind of…

Nerdy Media Topics

So, I didn't get anything done on my senior project today despite actually trying. My editor decided that I needed to register it, and after I did that, it gave an error upon opening my program - so I had to install updates for about 3 hours to try to get it to run. Not sure if it actually runs yet, it was midnight by then and I was done messing with it. Shouldn't take anywhere near that long to install some updates.

Only 10 episodes of FMA:Brotherhood left. This is seriously…

Is the Paper Girl Real: Perceptions and People in John Greens Paper Towns

Is the Paper Girl Real: Perceptions and People in John Greens Paper Towns

I believe that a major theme in Paper Towns by John Green is seeing the truth of people; and I feel it is best expressed in Quentin (Q) Jacobson’s obsession with Margo Roth Spiegelman; who he idolizes from afar for years before attempting to get to know her. Why I am a nerd..

So I live in this kind of small town, it is not so small that everyone knows everyone, but it is small as in we have nothing here, basically you cannot really do anything 'fun' unless you can drive, or throw parties. So basically I am out of luck for both of those. In this town we have a mall, that is not even like a full mall, we have various food places (people hang out at the Tim Hortons all the time) and that is about it.. we do not have a movie theater or anything cool like that, and… Continue

Paper Towns - HECK YES?!?!?!

John Green is a genius. As is Hank (as soon as I have the funds, I'll be downloading So Jokes from iTunes :D:D), but I've just finished reading the last two thirds of Paper Towns in one sitting and I have to say..John Green is a genius.

I am so happy and sad and bewildered on the inside having just finished the final page moments ago. My puff levels are much higher than I think they have ever been before, but I feel so happy I can only do my happy dance internally, like, in my…

I've found my Heaven.

Today felt different when I woke up. As if I had slept in a new bed, only without the awkward, uncomfortable factor with it. You know, the kind where it's almost like that first time you tell a secret to a friend - when you're both nervous, but very excited that you've finally said something that has been haunting you for so long. That was how this morning felt to me.

School was a blur. Turn in homework. Take notes. Watch Casablanca. Take notes on Casablanca. Change classes. Turn in… Continue

Books.

Dear People,

In the course of the last 7 weeks I have been reading a lot of randomly chosen books. Most have been great, and others have been similar to cheesy romance/friendship crap. During this time I read Paper Towns, and it has broken my rule of "never read a book twice." I find it difficult to read a book two times, for I know what will happen. However, Paper Towns has such memorable characters, and many life changing metaphors. I can't possibly live without having this book to…

Margo Roth Spiegelman

So, I've just started re-reading Paper Towns and I'm up to the bit where Margo and Q are in the SunTrust building. Anyway a Scott Pilgrim trailer comes on (btw looks awesome, Ramona is my wallpaper) and I look at the girl that's playing Ramona and think, that's almost exactly how I picture Margo. So, I'm thinking she should play Margo in the film. I also decided to do a quick edit and would like to see what other people think of her as Margo. ^^…

Because John Green is a Genius

I just finished Paper Towns, and so have read all of John's books. I posted my thoughts on them at my blog, http://teaandbiscuits42.blogspot.com.

Tada!

So at school, I met another writing major named Sarah. Sarah is a Nerdfighter - specifically a "person who is made out of awesome instead

of blood and organs and things," and unspecifically part of an internet

community started by John Green and his brother Hank.… Continue

The Manic Pixie Dream Gril

So, everyone has this image of a manic pixie dream girl in their head. Boys want them. Girls want to be them. Some girls also want them. I mean- they're perfect, right? They're wild and exiting, a little bit magical, and so perfect that we think they only exist in our minds. But the thing about the manic pixie dream girl is that we look at them, and who are we seeing? We're not seeing the actual girl. I think that you don't really see a person. You feel them and understand them, but what you… Continue
