Learning To Hate

Hello everyone.

So, about 5 years ago, a little while after I moved to Seattle, I started going to Jackson High School. I had just turned 16. And I remember one day, I was in Ms. Blevin’s World History class. I had only been in public school for a couple weeks, and until that point, I’d been a nice, relatively sheltered home-schooler with no concept on really how to judge or exclude people for basically any reason. This kid, a young man, came in to give our teacher a note, and as he…

New Blog?

This site is has grabbed my attention, and I'm glad to soon be meeting people hopefully like me. Except since I'm a Book Reading Nerdfighter (if that is a correct term, I'm still fairly new, and I'm still just along in the beginning of the series) I want to use my blog for what I want. My opinion and I want to use if for my thoughts on the books I'm reading, as well as share the stuff I am writing.

I'm young, so I know for a fact anyone who reads this wont care. But that…

A Wild Pokemon-Charity-Stream Has Appeared!

This time last year I produced a blog for a fantastic Pokemon themed project that aimed to raise money for charity. The year before that I told people in chat. This year…  I am going to do both, and more! An exert from the blog read like this:

The project involved a group of students playing Pokemon games on webcam for 96 hours straight. The way in which they rasied money was simple, they would ask  people to donate cash to their chosen cause - which was the Japanese Earthquake…

The Fault In Our Stars: Grief after books/Me talking (The Natty Rant #2)

Hello, um, people? Friends? Readers? RANTERS! Hello Ranters. I recently read 'The Fault In Our Stars'. I know, I didn't really know if I liked the John Green books, I was content with having read 'Looking For Alaska.' I was honestly quite scared. I didn't want to disgrace the name of, like, my favorite youtuber, by not liking the book. But then I sucked it up, and bought it. I wanted to be in the little party aswell!

I am reading 'An Abundance Of Katherines', but before, I was…

Week 2!!!

Fellow nerdfighter Eliose Pearson has started an awesome project called the Project for Fiction (punning on Vlogbrothers' Project for Awesome.) The main point of the Project for Fiction is to get together a group of young writers to collaborate on an awesome multi chapter piece of fiction.

I'm super exited about it and can't wait to get to work on it. If any one is interested, use the link bellow.

P.S. I will also be posting this on…

Obligatory First Blog Post

Hello, hello!

So my name is Gabriel Iglesia, or just "Gabe." I'm currently heading into college, starting classes in October, and just about to head into the process of moving from my hometown of San Diego to the middle of Ohio. In the final days of high school, I had the idea of starting a blog detailing my journey after graduation and my thoughts down that road. I started such a blog several weeks ago on Tumblr (…

I took a wrong turn.

I was watching youtuber, Ze Frank's latest video and it got me thinking. It got me thinking about his previous videos and what those videos and this video said. Through out his videos he talks about thinking, about finding ourselves and thinking about all the things the universe will hold for us if we just think.

I used to be the person who stayed on the computer for hours looking up poems and quotes from philosophers. I did this to learn about the universe and myself. Through…

I'm a decent fella

This is a quickly written blog post about, surprise surprise, me. Trying to write this all at once and it's getting hard since I'm a bit tired.

At the moment I'm going through school, Taekwondo training and social crisis of finding a girlfriend. Well it's not a crisis but sometimes it feels like it is. Haven't even asked anyone out yet. Typical introvert nerd as I am.…

The start of a big fail

I believe Thomas (the blogs NM) was looking for someone to post regular blogs… against my better knowing, I decided to at least give it a try. To be truthful, I've never successfully had a blog. My tumblr doesn't count, as it's mainly reblogs. Let's see how far I can manage with this challenge.

So, Hi. I'm GHOTi, I'm not a 43 year old drunkard, and I don't like sharks. I wasn't born on Mars, and I don't live on the moon. There, all you need to know about me.
I've been on…

Pages.

To be brutally honesty, I find blank pages intimidating.

This is especially true when writing on the computer, because of the lights and the blinking cursor and the little voice inside your head screaming "Are you happy?! Now what do you plan on doing?!".

So I just stare at that little blinking line.

That is not where I find inspiration.

I need some Koolaid.

"Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask and he will tell you the truth."-Oscar Wild

"Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask and he will tell you the truth."-Oscar Wild

The fact that this quotes rings so true, amazes me because it is true isn't it? When you hand someone a mask they will speak without restraint, disclosing the most intimate details of their lives. They will throw themselves out there without fear of being judged and intern be reeled in with a group of new found friends to which they can relate, and…

YouTube Channels!

Hello Nerdfighteria! Long time, no see!

In the time that I've been absent, school has ended, I've gone to Italy and Paris, and I've started a YouTube channel with four of my friends!

Our username is "OhHeyItsThatGroup" (excuse the lack of apostrophe, YouTube usernames don't allow them) and we (try) to upload videos every day.

It's in the style of 5AG, where one person uploads a video on the same day of the week- for example, my videos are uploaded on…

First Blog Post

Oh hey there Nerd fighters. Didn't see you there. Haha, just kidding of course I did. Your awesome is so visible it's ultravisible and may even give me a tan.

I have no idea what to do for this first blog post on the ning since my blog posts on Tumblr are actually mostly about stuff my followers already sort of are aware about. And are not actually that awesome.

But I'm sure I'll figure out something!

Like how my Quidditch team is going or…

Not very good at this

So this is the first blog I've ever tried to make and hopefully this will not go too horribly over the course of my writings. As the title implies I am not very good at this sort of thing and am as of this moment not entirely sure what to write about. So for now I guess I'll treat this like a sort of daily journal or whatever.

My name... will remain a secret, however know that there is meaning behind the one i have posted. That being said, my "first name" is a character I have created…

I Am Fish

Sometimes I wonder what it’d be like to be a fish. Floating, soaring, swimming in the deep. Wispy tendrils of fins floating around me. Dancing gracefully beneath the surface of the cool. Effortlessly diving deep then rising up following the ebb and flow of the tide.

It seems a graceful dance, to be a fish, it seems like effortless splendor. Bubbles floating by me, the ocean gracefully breathes in and out, the seaweed dances in a breeze as I float on high above them. Deep…

You can even add text to your profile page (and beat the spammers)

Ok, so I am new to this website.  It might not look like it because I post replies on the forum topics like the proverbial crap flood of a troll-master.  Only I hope it's not crap and in this case I'm not actually trolling.

So I'm learning bit by bit what's on this website/ning thing.  It's a bit unwieldy and that seems to have something to do with it being jam packed full of features and tools, and it being somewhat difficult to get around to understanding it when I'm head…

Weeekennnddd!!!

So, its finally the weekend, Definitely a well deserved one. After a week of exams it sure does feel good to be free. Btw the ironic thing is that in one of my gcse's i had to write a blog.

The weather this week was great 30 degrees most of the time. But of course the weekend is awful weather just to keep me from making any photography videos. But still I made a video its very short and it was a bit different to how it seemed on the video editor.…

A Film to Decrease Worldsuck

Hannah Lindgren, Paul Weller, and I are film students at Ball State University, and we recently got permission from John and Hank Green via Twitter to produce a documentary about Nerdfighteria, the Vlogbrothers, and Vidcon. We are really excited about this project, and this summer we will be flying out to Anaheim, CA to film at Vidcon! Paul Weller and I will be the cinematographers, while Hannah Lindgren is the producer and editor.
