_Frost/Nixon_*: Is it different this time?

*How come using the little HTML thingies in the box for writing a blog post won't make words in the title italicized? I swear I've seen people with italics in blog titles before, so how the hell does a person do that?! Gosh, I fail...

Frost/Nixon was my favorite of the movies I saw over the winter break. I'll admit it probably isn't the best, but its subject matter is poignant and current enough for me that I liked it the most (and the superb acting of the entire cast, as well… Continue

No Child Left Behind- It Sucks

No Child Left Behind shall, from here on out, be NCLB, if not "it" or "the program" or something like that. OK? Ok. Awesome.

NCLB sucks. I think most people realize this, but I don't think that it goes beyond just the shared knowledge that it sucks so hard- WHY it sucks doesn't seem to be all that known. Well, I'd like to give some specific reasons for why NCLB actually leaves loads of children behind (as if that turn of phrase hasn't been used before... I'm sooo… Continue

Nader is a N00bcake

QT started an awesome thread, found here, for which he expressed a desire for me to be a regular contributor. The following will be my first contribution. I feel like a real blogger/ opinion editorial author now, garsh. I have expressed similar sentiments in a previous blog post, but here we go.

I don't need to see… Continue

And he claims the economy has *improved* since Bush took office...?

Last week, when Lora was still here, there was a party for Jesus's 21st at which a Republican friend of mine was present. At some point, he said that the economy "has been getting better and better" since W. took office. I was practically speechless- how could anyone even remotely think that? I did my best not to blow up at him for such an arrogant statement, but I couldn't help but point out that my parents declaired bankruptcy under his watch, even though my dad had a steady job; and that he… Continue

Childish

2:15 am EST

I was just really thinking today about how the governments and the people we elect to run our countries(or who forcably take over) are not any different than children. I mean truly, think about it.When a child doesn't get their way, they will do anything to get it. If America doesn't get their own way, we'll do anything to get it. If one child has something the other wants, they will do anything to get it; punching, kicking, biting, etc. The governments do the same thing.… Continue

New Idea, Same Spin- Oh Bush, I See RIGHT Through You... But WHY?

In spite of the fact that it's Saturday, I couldn't sleep past seven-fourty-five this morning. Alas. I'm sure it has to do with two things. First, my body itself doesn't let me sleep much later than that. Second, I'm going to see The Dark Knight on IMAX in a few hours. AnticipaSHOWN, my friends. So I checked my email (and the Ning, of course) and saw in my NYTimes Online subscription this headline:… Continue

Dispair-> Nuclear war and what it means

History is repeating itself. The years preceding WWI are occurring again, the same political strife... but the stakes are higher. Technology is advanced, and military technology has reached an all-time high. The United States alone has enough nuclear power to blow up the world -173 times.- And that's just the United States. Russia also has nuclear power as does England, France, China, India, Pakistan and North Korea. Israel hasn't declared they have weapons, but the United States doesn't want… Continue

Bush Fails and is Replaced!

Yes, The Bush has failed. I spent almost an hour on it today and then T didn't like it....it was the wrong kind of plant and was a "too perfect" bush as she put it. So it has been replaced. I spent almost my whole lunch on that thing and it wasn't really fro anything. At least the real Bush will be replaced in November or something =P

So yes today was interesting. Its only like 38 outside and i was BURNING UP. I know im not getting sick but its just weird. I was sitting on the… Continue

Some Op-Eds

I have been going through a lot of stuff because of my low socio-economic status lately. I'm not going home for my spring break because my family can't afford it. I can't go to an event my fellow senior senators are planning because I can't afford it (or if I did go, I'd just sit there as they all bought stuff). I can't afford to go to Amanda's wedding because I would have to fly to it in the middle of my finals PLUS get a dress and all that stuff. And a lot of small things on campus that keep… Continue
