Freaking out

I think I'm having a quarter life crisis, (you can do that right?) I have a great job, a loving boyfriend and a nice house, and at 22 that's not bad. But I feel like my life is settling onto a path too soon. Like, soon I'll be marrying and having kids and it all feels wrong and too soon! I'm starting to feel like my life isn't going to take any twists and turns like I had hoped. I want to travel, and I want to write, and I want to experience everything I possibly can. I want to have the…

Book Review: Going Bovine, by Libba Bray (no major spoilers, just quotes)

Agh.  Agahgahgahagh.  That is literally what has been going through my mind in the last five minutes since I finished this book.  Why?  Because it.  Is so.  Aghagahgahgahging good.

Whew.  Like.  Yeah.  IT'S 1AM OKAY, BEAR WITH ME.

My school is turning into Hogwarts...

When I was 7 years old, my Mum got a new job at a teeny weeny, girls only, Christian boarding school in the freezing town of Stratford. I remember walking round the school grounds during the holidays and peeking in the windows. I remember being fascinated by the fake skeleton in the science lab, and wondering whether it was real. When I was 7 it was the year 2001, when if I recall correctly, the first Harry Potter movie was released. So as you can imagine, my first year in the little town of…

Shaving in Stratford

Stratford, Taranaki, New Zealand is in my opinion, the most illogical place on Earth to live. For starters, it's totally freezing. It's insanely close to Mt Taranaki, at an altitude which I'm surprized you can even boil an egg at. But even though it's so cold, we don't even get the luxury of being able to make snow men. Mud men yes... but no snow! The snow stays way up on Mt Taranaki, which I might add, is a DORMANT VOLCANO! So... what on earth posessed us to live in Stratford??? Well there…

Stories of the Weekend and Chapter 4 of New Moon

First things first; CRAZY WOMAN ON THE 87 BUS!!!!!!!  She was talking/yelling into her sleeves, hair, and eventually people's faces about how we "have to call da poleeece to shut off da macheeene...the government eez going to keel us all...they're going to blow your brain out!!!"  This went on for about 25 minutes or so.  Needless to say, it was a very uncomfortable bus ride since, for most of that time, I was standing about 3 feet away from her trying to hang on to my little leather…

Crazy Hank Green Dream

Just thought I'd share a crazy dream I had about Hank Green last night:

So, I was going to Hank Green's house to interview him (not sure why or what for). He talked a lot about how hard it is to be a farmer, because apparently Hank Green is a farmer in his spare time. Then he invited me into his garage to see all his farming equipment. His garage, which he summoned with an elevator (just roll with me here), turned out to be a huge cave made entirely with snow. And, although it was…

My computer hates me

A couple of weeks ago, i was having a battle with my computer over whether or not to delete a script that was supposed to override an error that i had discovered. I was very annoyed to discover that, after i had placed my handwritten script into the correct folder, my firewall found it, classified it as a virus, and attempted to erase it. At first, i started to laugh, because the error the script was going to erase was an error that made it impossible to delete anything at…

Day 169: Things That Amuse Me #12

Hello one and all to the next installment of Things That Amuse Me. For today's episode (episode?) I am going to talk about a group of people who like to blow stuff up.

Things That Amuse Me #12: The MythBusters

Well, OK, they do do a bit more than just blow things up, but that is something they like to do. The MythBusters originally consisted of Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage. After a couple of years they added Kari Byron, Tory Bellici, and Scottie…
