A long rant to nerdfighters because I need to get some things off my chest and I don't know who to talk to.

My name is Libby.

I am 14 years old. I live in a small town in Queensland, Australia. My dad died when I was 7. I am moving in December.

At the moment, I feel alone. I am on holidays, staying at my beach house (which will sooon become my house of residence) away from my friends. But that is not really why I feel alone. I am able to contact my friends via the internet. And I have done so. But what I want to say, I can't say to them. I don't know how to. It may seem weird that I…

EXTRA! Thoughts from Tour

http://www.twitter.com/scishow - LIVE TWEETING FOR MSL LANDING!

Hank's tour diary from the very quick, three-day tour he took with Harry and the Potters and Potter Puppet Pals. They're still on tour (and will be for a while) without me, and the show is REALLY REALLY GREAT! Tickets are generally $10 and VERY WORTH IT…

T-Shirt and Jeans - A Song

Ellen Hardcastle: http://dftba.com/artist/15/Hank-Green

In which Hank sings a song about his favorite outfit. I wrote this after a debate with Tom Milsom. A debate which, to be clear, I was not the winner of. I actually think that fashion is a perfectly viable form of communication and that is absolutely an art.

So,…

Cows who wish they could dance like the Iris

Cows, or cattle, are pretty awesome and Nerdfighters are quite interested in them. The world cattle is borrowed from the Old French catel itself from Latin caput, head, and originally meant movable personal property, especially livestock of any kind, as opposed to real property (the land, which also included wild or small free-roaming animals such as chickens — they were…

On Religion (Redux)

In which John finished up what turned out to be Religion Theme Week here in nerdfighteria by discussing the complexity of religious identity and why we must reconcile ourselves to living in a world riddled with ambiguity. (In short, to revisit the theme of Vlogbrothers 2011: The truth resists simplicity.)

Let's continue the conversation in your pants: http://www.yourpants.org

Peeps, Happy Dances, and Other Such Things

Hey everyone!

I've heard it's not possible to eat more than 12.5 Peeps in one sitting. If I can find somewhere that sells Peeps in the summer, I will prove that to be un-true. As soon as I get my effing braces off. FNEDJSAKLFNREJKNJK!!!!!! As you may have guessed, I hate my braces. Any thirteen year old human would.

ANYWAYS, on to my next topic. I only very recently found out…

Finding Me - Introduction

I'm Diamond Nicole. I was planning on writing a fictional blog, but I figured, why not let at least one place be somewhere I can be me, unconditionally?

I'm sixteen. I love to do a lot of different things. Photography. Writing. Poetry. Singing. Yardwork. Garden and Interior Design. Advice. Acting. Theater design.…

The Weirdness of Dreams.

Hello Nerdfighters!

This week's blog post is less serious or formal or schnazzy, or however you might have thought of my blog posts in the past. Homecoming week for my high school is fast approaching, and it has put me in a mood to just have some fun.

This week's blog post is from Hank. Yes,…

So i just signed up for Nerdfighters and, well, i love it? I don't normally blog so i don't really know what to write...

I'm reading Looking For Alaska at the minute and i really love it. (Thank you Matt Peters.)

I also just started watching vlogbrothers and i love it too. Gosh, i love everything wrote in this blog, don't i?

No, i don't love the fact that my blog is incredibly boring and probably pointless xD But hey, i wrote something...

How Looking for an Agent Is Like Square Dancing

Dream Agent turned me down. Yes, I know you're sad, but it's really okay. She had her reasons:

"It's not you, it's me. Okay, it is you."

But she did point out a couple of specific problems with the manuscript, nothing unfixable, and that kind of feedback is priceless.

And, to be honest, I'm used to being rejected. I've been writing and submitting short stories and poems for years now, and I have two months' worth of rejections from novel submissions too.…

The AWA Danceathon!

A bunch of people gathered round the lobby upstairs at the Waverly and danced. Of course, the AWA staff had to break it up since they were blocking the way. No, the police did not get involved, thank… Continue

What *I* first thought of when I found out Michael Jackson died

I first started working in a special education classroom during my freshman year of college, there was a pair of little guys, kindergarten-aged at the time, E__ and M__, both with Down Syndrome, drug exposure, and from Spanish-speaking households (so the hurdles they’re up against are monumental), and the two of them have been dubbed various names such as The Dream Team and Tweedles as terms of endearment for the shenanigans they pull when together- on my second day, for example, E__ started… Continue

“Committing Acts of Literature” and more Billy Collins

April 2, 2009

Day 2

“Committing Acts of Literature” and more Billy Collins

I’m going to start today with a picture

Yeah. That just happened. I hope I managed to conceal my inordinate glee about sitting across from a former poet laureate well enough that he didn’t think, “I wonder if that crazy girl with the grin plastered on her face is okay…” all the while attempting to discuss poetry with a group of mostly grad students and… Continue

The Nerdfighter Novel!

Put shortly, it's 25 Nerdfighters gather to write a science fiction novel. It's made of awesome, from scratch. Follow it as it is written over time!

Honestly,I just feel that The Nerdfighter Novel is much to awesome to go on with relatively few readers.

So I'm urging all of you: Be one of our faithful readers. If you like to read about evil aliens, eccentric scientists, precocious twins, quests to save the earth, and little dancing robots,… Continue

Ever so sorry.

I forget to come on nerdfighters so much! It annoys me when I do go on and then I realise I haven't been on for months! Anyways, new things; 1. Going to see Wicked again in March 2. May be going to see Avenue Q 3. Loved Twilight as a movie though there could be improvements :/ 4. I've started streetdancing ?! Which is incredibly unusual because I'm terribly uncoordinated. Anyways.. how is everyone ???????

Belly Dancing is fun...

...when you don't pass out at the class!!

You read me right!

I went to my sister's belly dancing class this morning to see what it was all about and stupid me didn't eat or drink anything before going! The mixture of being dehydrated and running on empty combined with the fact that it was BOILING in the room we were practicing in resulted in my feeling light headed and then passing out. Luckily I sat down before I passed out, but it wasn't fun, I can tell you that much!… Continue

Maybe I'll Become a Nun, Too...

I'm like 99.999999999% sure I'm the only one who's looked at this page since its inception. I think I'm ok with that.

It's like spitting into the ocean. There's no point in doing it, but it sure is fun!

Look, kids, we learned a new adage today!!! Whee!!!

I used to have this thing against exclamation points. Like, I really hated them. I went off on a rant about them in senior year of high school, how if you need to use exclamation points, you're a bad writer,… Continue
