nerd denial

Hello nerdfighteria,

my name is Charlotte. I have been a nerd for all my life, but it has been a difficult journey for me.

When I was in 4th grade (4 years ago) I read Harry Potter for the first time. And I went over the top obsessive over it. I got a cardboard cutout of Harry and named him Happy Harry. I had 47 posters exactly. I was no longer permitted to read the books because I lived in a huge shrine that was my bedroom. And I did refer to it as a shrine. Kids still talk…

CALLING OUT ALL NERDFIGHTERS

Hey guys. I need your help! I’m making a book for this class I’m taking in high school, all about how the Vlogbrothers have come to be and how they have affected nerdfighter’s lives.  For a cover and throughout the book, I will need as many pictures as I can get. ANYTHING WILL DO! Submit pictures of you, John, and Hank (if you’ve had the lovely chance to meet them!), or send a picture of you doing the “nerdfighter gang sign”.  This book will also include a…

I took a wrong turn.

I was watching youtuber, Ze Frank's latest video and it got me thinking. It got me thinking about his previous videos and what those videos and this video said. Through out his videos he talks about thinking, about finding ourselves and thinking about all the things the universe will hold for us if we just think.

I used to be the person who stayed on the computer for hours looking up poems and quotes from philosophers. I did this to learn about the universe and myself. Through…

I'm a long time nerdfighter but I've always been to socially awkward or scared to join the ning. But here I am, I'm going to give it a try. So please other Nerdfighters be patient with me and any words of wisdom for the ning I'd appreciate it.

Now Over Me, The Second Installation.

Now Over Me.

Written By Ben Paulukiewicz [Jin-Ja]

So I stood there, my ipod in my ears, my feet following the person in front, inside the corridors of the school, like one big game of follow the leader.

At my school, there were no uniforms, so I wore jeans, canvas shoes, a tee shirt and my favourite cotton dark cream jacket.

My friends thought I was Nathan Drake from the Uncharted Series.

I didn’t see it.  The jeans I wore were…

TFioS. Hoooooooooooooly sh-

I stayed up until 4:32 last night reading The Fault in our Stars by our very own John Green, and OH. MY. GOSH.

If you haven't read it yet (haha) then READ IT. BY GOD, READ IT.

Backstory:

I actually bought the book a few months ago, along with Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (another book that I'd recommend). I read Miss Peregrine's Home etc., but not TFios. My reasons? Well, to shorten the answer, I was afraid of it ending. I was afraid of reading it…

New Baby

Tonight, at 9:16 pm, my brother's wife gave birth to a perfect baby boy.

When we brought my brother's 3-year-old daughter he said to me, "Look at this, we have a Princess and a Geek." While I have no doubt that my niece will be a geek too (she already reads like a monster), this seemed to be all that was on the mind of my brother and I. WE couldn't wait to get him into the Star Trek science officer onesie that I had bought for my niece after she was born. The first thing I said when I…

"Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask and he will tell you the truth."-Oscar Wild

"Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask and he will tell you the truth."-Oscar Wild

The fact that this quotes rings so true, amazes me because it is true isn't it? When you hand someone a mask they will speak without restraint, disclosing the most intimate details of their lives. They will throw themselves out there without fear of being judged and intern be reeled in with a group of new found friends to which they can relate, and…
