My First Blog Entry

So I'm fairly new to the nerdfighting scene. I've been a nerdfighter for about a year now. I'm 15 and from Texas. I'm a book nerd and a science geek. I love sci-fi and I recently got in to Doctor Who. I'm still on season (series?) 6 so I'm very behind. I love BBC Sherlock. I'm also obsessed with a podcast produced by Nate DiMeo called " The Memory Palace" and if you like history you should check it out here. So that's about…

Dr. Josh and the GuiTARDIS

When I went to ConBust this year, I had something of a silly idea. I decided I would put a homemade TARDIS decal on my blue guitar, accessorize with a bow tie, and cosplay as Dr. Josh and the GuiTARDIS. I expected the pun to cause some head-slaps, maybe some groans and possibly a squee here and there, but I did not expect anything anywhere near the response I got.

People seemed to enjoy the concept. I saw some major…

Introducing... Me.

I am Eilish, an Australian nerdfighter, who was introduced to the vlogbrothers late 2011. I love Doctor Who, and so my brother bought me the first Chameleon Circuit album. After listening to it a million times I eventually found my way to Alex (nerimon) and Charlie's videos. After watching their videos for a while i…

Lizzing. Is that a verb now? I saw it on a shirt I think.

I'm really excited to be part of this. REALLY excited. I haven't been watching Hank and John for very long, but I love this entire... culture? It's really quite fantastic. My friends in the year below me are writing arguemntative essays and I remember one about the value of smart people in society. That's what this reminds me of. Like, I'm sure the decepticons are great at whatever it is they do, but having the brains rocks and it seems like only the people who have them…

Hello Nerdfighteria

Wow, when I stumbled upon John and Hank's videos three weeks ago (I kid you not I watched an entire years worth in three weeks) I had no idea the impact they would make on my life. But they did. It's like just as I was getting cynical and jaded BAAMM optimism returns. Which I suppose was something John was talking about a lot during 2007.

I mean it wasn't even that all the problems of the world got less extreme so much as my attitude to them change. In November I was all, I…

1/8 (kinda): Active Nerdfighting

I would firstly like to point out that I began this blog on the correct day even if it didn't finish then...Anyways so today I went out and did some active nerdfighting in my community. This involved heading out into the local bookstores to find John Green's books to leave little nerdfighter notes. There were two bookstores to I went to both of them to doubly spread the awesome! First we headed to the…

Twas the day before the night before Christmas.

Merry Christmas and happy holidays to my fellow Nerdfighters. I'm enjoying my winter break from college very much and I hope you all are enjoying this time of the year as well.

I'm glad P4A went so well. It really shows how powerful the Vlogbrothers and the Nerdfighters have become. We must remember the power of compound Nerdfighting. I can only remember one circumstance where it has failed. Each of us is awesome in our own way, and by combining our awesomeness we can accomplish… Continue

Christmas movies! Actually, Christmas movie, singular.

Seeing as I just joined the Nerdfighters Ning, I am amazed to learn that anyone, but anyone can make their very own blog! Well, the opportunity was so exciting that I just had to take advantage of it.

Okay, so let's get a move on.
Since I am a Film Geek Nerdfighter, I am here to talk about what is possibly the best Christmas movie ever, and probably one of THE BEST movies ever, It's A Wonderful Life.

Yeah, yeah, go ahead and say it. "I…

Going to the Vampire Food Bank

Alright, not really. But I can't be the only one that thinks the blood bags at the donation clinic look like the juice bags that some companies use. I'm looking at you Kool-Aid! *stink-eye*

So in less than two hours I am going to the blood donor clinic to give them a pint of the good stuff. Personally, I think that donating blood is an awesome option for fighting world suck because it doesn't take much to do. You don't need to be educated in the green movement, you don't need…

Reading, writing (sucking at it), and nerdfighting.

Please forgive my spelling, my computer has no spell check :(

So, I've been reading some books from the Teen Reads list for 2010-2011 and so far have read 6 out of 15. Those being, Compound, Gracling, Shiver, Willow, King of Screw Ups, and After. Which are all very good books. Since I've finished all of those I'm reading Suite Scarlett. Interesting so far.I think that next year I'll do the 100…

He came to New York today! My friend Dan and I went to see him with David Levithan, we were right up in the front, and he loved our shirts, so it's a good thing we made him one. :D

We got there two hours early, so we met some other Nerdfighters. One borrowed my sharpie to draw an anti-unicorn sign on her bag, another had the PIZZA shirt. A buttload of them were wearing Threadless tees. We also met some librarians from New Jersey, I bought some…

Facials, Pornstars and Spice Girls?

Wherein Meg gives herself a toothpaste facial, discusses her previous and current ambitions, (perhaps gets a little sappy), and thus completes Clive's mission (it really is as exciting as it sounds).

She also promises a shorter, and more entertaining video next week.

Balloons, Wizards and Advanced Reading Copies! Oh my!

Today was very eventful in an uneventful kind of way. As you know I am a Nerdfighter. A Nerdfighter is a person who watches John & Hank Green or follows anyone in the nerdfighter community really, and instead of bones and organs and things, they are literally made of awesome.

Today I participated with other Nerdfighters across the global to search for 10 red weather balloons across the continental United States. Being from Canada, my job, along with other international… Continue

Forum Update! Plus Internet-Related Problems

Ok so I’ve got five finals and I’m sure many of you do as well. I hope everyone studies and doesn’t spend too much time on the internet. Speaking of spending time on the internet, I was stumbling around on Wikipedia the other day and came across an article about the Online Disinhibition Effect. Basically, it shows how several factors can cause a human being to have lower inhibitions while communicating on the… Continue

The Story of a Nerdfighter

I started watching the vlogbrothers as a young buck at the tender age of 21. I am currently 22. I have been watching the vlogbrothers since November of 2008 and the day I found them, I watched every video they had ever made. Back in those days it was easy, it was perhaps a 16 or 17 hour job instead of the possibly 27 or 28 hour job it is today. This is the story of that new nerdfighter, and the path she took to become the older wiser 22 year old nerdfighter she is today.

Hank and… Continue
