Never Underestimate the Power of Nerdfighteria, Right? I Need YOUR Help.

I am adopted. I am trying to find my biological brother. He was born in 1993 in Orange County, California. His name is Cody.

This is all that I know. If anyone knows anything, please message me?

Please.

Prayer, oh Prayer! What have thou become!

As the title of the Blog suggests, this is in fact, about  prayer! It's been on my mind for a fair wee bit and I'd figure one way to get it outt'a me system would be to write  typed it all out. Heck, what could go wrong? ~People could think that you don't respect one of their most priced beliefs~ Quiet contradicting voice within my head! ~ You know I'm right ~.  God damn it..

Anywho! Moving on to the subject…

A Woman's Power

I watched two movies this past week: Bridesmaids, which is still out at the cheap theater, and Columbiana, which I believe just started showing.  These movies don't have much in common; one's a raunchy send up of marriage and female life in general, and the other's a filmy froth of action movie cliches.  I came out of Columbiana today thinking about what it means, in life and in film, to be a strong woman.

Hollywood seems to have this idea that a…

Japan's Nuclear Disaster Explained

In which Hank explains nuclear power and the situation at the Fukushima Daiichi power plant in Japan.

In short, fission products continually decaying in both active and spent fuel rods create enough heat to melt themselves. The coolant systems that would prevent this from happening were disabled by the tsunami. Cracks in the fuel rods created an environment allowing hydrogen to form, which concentrated and then exploded several times destroying both the… Continue

FAME is a fickle friend

Actually, i'm not sure if fame is a friend at all and yet the whole world is obsessed with fame, and the question so many philosophy students will ask is "why?". Why if fame has proven again and again to destroy peoples worlds do people still cling to a path that they hope will one day lead them to fame? What draws us so inexorably to fame? I am not a philosophy student however i know quite a few which is why i am thinking about this topic now, this is not normally a topic i contemplate on,…

Lamentations

Words are wonderful beautiful things

full of happiness excitement and love

yet also filled with sadness and depression

along with anger and betrayel

they are full to the brim with every emotion imaginable

Most words are similar yet unique

but my words are the most…

A Side Project

For the past month or so now I have been working at a side project. I have not turned on an electrical light of my own accord for my own personal use once. I have instead been using a solar lantern for all of

my lighting needs after the sun has set. It’s actually been pretty easy.

That and the fact that I consider my MacBook immune from this edict.

These two light-sources have been more than adequate to get me through

the night. It is, of course, made easy by the fact…

Entertaining Guests or, The Visitors

Today, I want to talk about some recent guests to the house (I need a name for the new house, and I'm having trouble thinking of something. Might turn it into a contest for the vlog) and show a little video.

First, the video:

I believe I mentioned the collab channel, In the Great Perhaps, that I make videos for every Thursday. This week, I also had a few guests on Thursday, so I got them to… Continue

Stanford Prison Experiment

First of all, I'm new to Nerdfighteria, but I like it so far. It's made of awesome, that's for sure. So, I want to tell you about a psychology experiment that has always both interested me and infuriated me. It's called the Standford Prison Experiment. So, in 1971, psychologist Philip Zimbrado was researching at Standford University, studying the effects of situations on human behavior. He thought of an experiment that, today, would never be allowed to take place. He wanted to test the… Continue

The miracle in our heads

As a couple of people know, I registered here only very recently because I'd always been intimidated by the atmosphere of youthfulness around here. But I'd been following John and Hank and the Nerdfighter culture for a long time before that... and when I say "following", I mean learning everything that I possibly could about it and them from every source that I could possibly… Continue

"Batteries Not Included"- swappable car batteries!

This is a very fascinating article from the NY Times from a week ago (I have had SUCH a busy and crazy week, hoh muh gawd) about a swappable, rechargeable battery for cars. That's right, a battery you can charge or change at a station, at work, or at home.

The company is called Better Place- fitting, given the goals. And… Continue

So you want to be a Power Ranger

Last weekend I woke up and what was on my screen? Power Rangers: Jungle Fever. I didn't want to change the channel because i was tired and didn't feel like getting out of bed and changing the channel and was i thought it was funny so i stayed. and i picked up on how to be a power ranger.

Rule #1: No piece of fabric is EVER too tight.

Rule #2: There is ALWAYS time for a silly transformation dance

Live!

Hahah! I'm almost never here. Which is sad, I know.

And I always whine that no one reads this. But you don't, do you? That's also sad. I need to get more friends over here! I don't have many Nerdfighter friends.

So anyway!

I attended the live tonight as well. I've been to several. This whole live airing the tour is awesome! It's been epic all the way.

And tonight was amazingly jokes. We met Max Power...s. Power or Powers? He was epicly handsome and fun, anyway!… Continue

A solar power idea

Have you ever stepped out onto the street barefoot in summer and had your feet scalded? The road is hot! Roads aren't very wide, but they are very long, and the fact that the sun's beating down on all that developed surface area every day gave me an idea -- why not build a very tall canopy over the road, open on the sides and supported at intervals by posts that would double as street lamps, and cover the top with solar panels? The canopy could be shaped to maximize efficiency for the panels on… Continue

EVERYBODY IS CHARGING! Where the hell is all the $$$ going?

I'm in the middle of trying to book my flight to Seattle for the start of my work. See, I got this really fun idea that Andy and I should drive together to Walla Walla, like we did during college at Whitman. "Just like the good old days, right Fluffy?" He liked that idea, but, for whatever reason, I kept forgetting to actually buy myself a ticket. Then I saw this headline and knew I… Continue

Is it Friday yet?

I am really excited for lunch tomorrow; I get to eat with Sam. Yayy.
I promise not to go off in the reasons why I love him, because I think I'll bore you to death.
Anyway, it is raining, or was. I love it to death, and I will be so happy if there is no power at school tomorrow. I think I'll go to bed now, I'm tired.
