Oh man!

There was a blog on here? I didn't even notice it! Well this means that things are much more interesting. Hello world and welcome to my blog on Nerdfighers. So this will be the second blog I run, since I am active on tumblr, but I have finally made my tumblr have a purpose! Its where I post essays and poems and pictures from my travels and experiences. I try not to reblog things anymore as much as I can and I feel that makes your blog, well unoriginal. It does have the benefit of helping to…

oh the little things

it seems interesting how as we go through life things become less and less wondrous as we get used to our routines we stop noticing amazing things for instance the amazing things about the places we live in today for instance i had not been to seaport and besides the fact that i vomited there due to lack of food and possibly slight dehydration i found it amazing being there again i usually don't go because i figure "oh I've been there before" or "im to busy" or the obvious "im to lazy" but…

AHHHHHH!!!!

This is my first post and the blinking cusor is intimidating. In front of me is a beautiful blank canvas and I am expected to fill it with my thoughts and my mindless wonders.  My computer obviously shows no sympathy, the cursor just blinks and blinks (I think it's mocking me)... But if we want to get deep and philosophical I guess the blinking cursor and the blank canvas could be a metaphor for life. (Cheese Alert!!!) We are born so pure, innocent and naive, like the blank text box. We…

Flinching in the Shower

***Fahrenheit 451: http://dft.ba/-montag - read along or else quite a few of our videos won't make any sense this summer!***

In which Hank talks about Flinch (http://dft.ba/-flinch) and Foo Camp and takes a very VERY cold shower.

This video, I admit, isn't terribly well held together, I go…

Things That Are Cool

First NF blog post, so I figured I'd start off with something profound and meaningful, something that gives insight into my innermost psyche.

That's right...a list of 13 things that are cool (at least in my opinion). :D

1. Nutella. Chocolate-hazelnut spread of awesome that has the consistency and nutritional value of cake frosting. This is at the forefront of my mind at present, because I'm going to be making Nutella brownies after lunch.

2. Learning…

Why things are the way they are.

Studying archaeology gives a perspective of humanity that not many people have, I tend to think alot about what future generations will see of me and this time in the physical record we will leave behind. (Just as we study the past by looking at what our ancestors have made for the world to see, what they have inadvertently left behind and what they have thrown away)

It also gives a strange appreciation for how the items we use change over time for various reasons such as aesthetics…

Book Review: The God of Small Things, by Arundhati Roy

This is going to be a very different review. For a very different book. I read "The God of Small Things" because my dad wanted me to read it. I think he said I should read it because of my own interest in writing, because I am always inspired by the brilliance of authors. It took me quite a long time to read this book; two full weeks I think, which is kind of ridiculous. It wasn't that it was a difficult read (I've read more difficult books faster than that) or that it was boring (it…

Prayer, oh Prayer! What have thou become!

As the title of the Blog suggests, this is in fact, about  prayer! It's been on my mind for a fair wee bit and I'd figure one way to get it outt'a me system would be to write  typed it all out. Heck, what could go wrong? ~People could think that you don't respect one of their most priced beliefs~ Quiet contradicting voice within my head! ~ You know I'm right ~.  God damn it..

Anywho! Moving on to the subject…

Things I've Learned

Things I’ve Learned from Middle School

1. Microwave your sponge for a minute every week to kill the germs on it.

Forreal. This is a handy tip from Mr. Ordons, my 6th grade earth science teacher. He was something of a health nut and had us log our meals for a week, among other things. But, he assured us, he has his weaknesses too! I remember him pulling out a box of girl scout cookies and saying that he’ll eat a fourth of a box in a day…

Smart Advice From an Idiotic Teenager

Its time for change, a new experience. Its time I surrounded myself with people who understand me, not people who think they understand me. Its time to throw caution to the wind and stop listening to logical explanations. Its time to be me, with no setbacks, time to “get buisy living, or get busy dying” no matter whats at stake.

Forget my dignity, who needs it; forget my wisdom, what have I learned anyways; forget my heart, its a mess; forget my feelings, who…

Abbie is bad at blogging

So, I'm going to admit this from the start - I'm not good at blogging. I always forget, or can't think of things to write, so, yeah.. I don't think my life is particularly interesting, either.

Things that were awesome about today, though..

I got my sopio cards I ordered! I can't wait to see if any of my friends'll play it with me,until then, I'll play Solopio :)

Also, my cousins visited me a week or so ago, and I found out my youngest cousin, Holly, likes…

Hello everyone.

10 Amazing things Most People Don't notice.

  1. Dandelions. Very pretty, can tell you if your friends have crushes, make exellent flower chains, and grant wishes. I also think if your sworn nemisses has allergies, these little flowers could come in handy.
  2. A blank sheet of paper. You can make oragami, write a speech the future president of the world may one day recite, or the start of an epic sci-fi or fantasy book that just might get some people to join the nerdyside.
  3. Words!!!! What makes the combination of a…

Nameless Face...

Hows about a poem?

You tell me your name,

But I do not understand.

They call after you, and I don’t hear it.

Staring down upon because you must,

Your face confused.

I see you as something… Continue

I Spend Way Too Much Time Alone

I really do.  And because of this, I think too much (yes, there is such a thing).  I over-think everything that happens and often come to the wrong conclusion.  Someone will mention a medical condition and I think "oh geez, do I have that?"  I start analyzing the symptoms and find that they match... but it could also be some kind of weird hypochondria that happens BECAUSE I heard about it.

The thing is, I can't really think of a solution to this.  The easiest is of course, go… Continue

London: Day 11

3/13/11

We woke up extremely early today to leave the hotel by 5:15. Now we’re on our way home. So, did I enjoy it? Yes. It was a new experience and the farthest I’ve traveled. It’s a different culture, too. If I were given the choice, I would definitely do it again.

So, that was my trip to London. It was a lot of fun and definitely worth the money.

Video update: There isn't any. I still haven't worked any more on it. However, I do…
