I've heard wonderful things about you. I've been thinking about some things, and I know this is pretty lengthy, but I would really like to hear what you have to say about this, and you'll see why. But first, some exposition:
I've lived for most of my life in the high desert of the southwest United States, which can feel a bit like Tatooine to some. The days are hot, the nights are cold, the air is dry and the flora and fauna in the more…Continue

I just rewatched Star Trek: TNG: Tapestry, the episode where Captain Picard is almost fatally injured by damage to his artificial heart and Q gives him a chance to go back to the time of his original injury and change his life. Going back to his wild youth with the wisdom gained from thirty more years of experience, he determines that "this time it will be different." He behaves responsibly, refusing to get into foolish fights and stopping his friends from doing the irresponsible things he…Continue
Coming to you live from Chicago, Illinois! The Windy City! The Central Time Zone!
We’ve been staying at the home of relatives for a while. The house is very nice and big, to say the least, with quite a lot of bedrooms. And rooms in general. Not to mention their Internet is fairly better than what I used to have back in San Diego. (Just as a side note, on that Internet I had back in San Diego, it wasn’t bad per se, and in the last five years it’s been…Continue

So, recently I traveled to D.C. to visit my sister. While there we did a lot of walking and a ton of touristy things, such as visiting the monuments and memorials.
I had time to reflect on what actually happened at the places that I visited. At the Lincoln Memorial it was hard to imagine that once there was man standing where I was, a man who dreamed of equality for everyone, that man being Martin Luther King Jr.
My mother, who was also with us, discussed how…Continue
In which John discusses his Vidcon experience, thanks his brother, and announces that you (yes, you!) need to read Part I of Ray Bradbury's FAHRENHEIT 451 by next Tuesday to prepare for our discussion in the Nerdfighter Book Club. (if you've read the book before, I encourage you to try reading it again with us!)
Vidcon was amazing. Thanks to everyone who was there,…Continue

Submerged in a link about Skylons vs SLS that Vertigo_One put in a discussion the other day was this:
It's a website by an engineer named Dan who seems to have figured out how to build The Enterprise spaceship using existing technology. He thinks it can be done in 20 years with a mere $1 trillion, and of course, it would take…Continue

In which John visits an abandoned hospital, and the steam tunnels beneath it, with his friends Ransom Riggs (author of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children) and Elyse Marshall. This is as close to a horror movie as a vlogbrothers video will ever be.
how could be no edge in the universe that is not really possible because in the big bang there was an expansion point so an ''edge'' or the nothing to something part that had to have an edge but it still confuses me that it keeps going and going that you never find it so theoricaly there is an edge... or maybe.
(It occurred to me while editing that you are not actually able to confirm that I ever put on pants.) In which John travels to Amsterdam--where he lived for two months while finishing The Fault in Our Stars--to promote the Dutch edition of the book. Along the way he visits places that were important to him and to the made-up people in his novel, including the Spui Square,…Continue
