A Partial List of My Unpopular Opinions
A partial list of my unpopular opinions:
One:
Turkey bacon is real bacon.
Two:
George Watsky and Jasmine Mans are worth fan-girling over.
Three:
I don’t see the big deal about Twitter.
Wow! I can summarize a moment in time

"Despite" {The True Hope Poem}
And he told me,
that he was surprised that this world
hasn’t beat out any sense of hope that I may have for it.
As if my frame was a pinata and this world is the child
that could never burst it
to let its insides fall out,
for a lack of better metaphor.
Despite the poems I’ve written about life…

My life, my love, and what I've learned
So, growing up is pretty complicated. I can't really stress that enough, and maybe some people out there that are possibly even older than me that really wouldn't relate. But I can say that I've grown up fast. And not in the way that you picture a 17 year old to be grown up, but I mean my life, my state of mind, and the ideas of the path I want to take have matured to the point that I see a lot of nearly 30 year olds struggling to get to. And it hasn't been easy.
I started…

Growing Up With Harry: House Identity
Ever since the beginning, I knew which house I belonged to. It was something instinctive, something that I had known as soon as I met Harry. As soon as I met Ron, who explained what houses even were. As soon as I met Hermione, who waltzed in, sat down, and informed me that, ”Ravenclaw wouldn’t be so bad.” I knew from the moment the Sorting Hat leapt to life and sang out:

Growing Up With Harry: On Defending Snape
I know this piece may be extremely controversial but, it is an opinon and if you don’t like it, you can go get your own.
I hate Snape, I have since the very first potions class with Harry. I also hate when people blindly ignore what he did to the poor students under his authority. He was mean and a bully, every single potions class in every single book either Neville has an…

Growing Up With Harry: Neville Respect
My hero is Neville Longbottom, not because he is played by Matt Lewis, or just because he was such a BAMF in HPDH, but because as a character, all the ordeals he went through made him the best character ever.
Neville had to grow up without being raised by his parents, he has to see his parents in the worst state possible. Neville never puts people down, he always helps when asked, he…

Hello Nerdfighteria!
Ola!
I'm Alex.
I like Rubik's cubes and partical physics and lights and Doctor Who and Harry potter and John Green books and summer dresses (not on me - I just think they're pretty) and Taylor Swift and trackerball mice and cooking and being messy and pretending I have terrible grammar by using 'and' an insane amount of times!
I don't like giant squids of anger; people who think it's OK to hit someone wearing glasses; people who think it's OK to hit…

Growing Up Is Scary
5 years ago, I was sitting in a classroom in my small town high school; a 9th grade student (minor-niner if you will) dreading her next few years in the off-white rooms of MVDHS. 3 years later, I sat in the Student Services office of that same school dreading the thought of going off into the big wide world of post-secondary education, breaking down to the guidance counselor about being so overwhelmed by all of the decisions to make. The final decision was to not go; I stayed for the…

What MLK day is for me
On Martin Luther King jr Day I remember the history of the struggle that he died for. And it is at those times that I am particularly thankful to my mother and father’s way of bringing me up. Even though my family is cacausian, and even though my parents were brought up with the idea of racism as natural my parents never balked at my impossible dream.
Me: “Mommy black people are beautiful.”
Mother: “They’re people Heather, the same as me and you.” She smiles down on her little…

exhale, shattering the glass
Let me just point out that i without a doubt, 100% love my life. dont get me wrong its been hard and some times painful. trust me when i say i've have my major f*** ups but I don't feel like all the others around me with these awful lives. I have a good life. I have the kinda of parents that care. the type of people that want you to be well rounded and still retain your identity. i have a brother that loves me, all be it in his own way. i am currently a little shaky on the friends front. i…
