So...yeah. Life kind of got in the way of me posting these blogs regularly. I've been itching to post a new one and really wanted to choose a photographer this time. I looked at a few but finally honed in on Weston.
I first discovered him several years ago and remember being impressed by the beauty of the shapes, textures, and composition in his work. I'm especially drawn to the organic and sensual nature of most of his photographs. I knew I wanted to focus on one of his nature…

Thanks to a couple of particularly busy days I'd fallen behind on my YouTube subscriptions. I first heard rumors of this new word, "Ningmaster," while catching up on Twitter. 'What is this strange thing?' I wondered. And then I saw. Mods. A cold chill ran down my spine. Surely not. I had fallen in love with the Nerdfighter Ning and all it's craziness. How much would these new moderators change? Would my precious Ning become unrecognizable? Would a censorious hush descend upon the…

I stole this from
Katie who stole it from author E. Lockhart. I haven't done a survey in a little while and I thought this might be fun to do. I'm also going to be doing a Favorite Things of '08/Year in Review post on my regular blog, since I'm clearly such a fascinating human being.
1. What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?
Became part of an online community (that would be this one,)…

I honestly didn't know that much about Chagall when I decided to feature one of his paintings as my next art blog. I was having a hard time getting inspired by anything and couldn't decide on anyone in particular. My frustration grew and grew.
One weekend I decided to just go to bookstores and libraries and look at the art books and see if anything jumped out at me. A new biography of Chagall caught my eye. I shuffled through the beautiful plates of his work featured and thought,…

I had a relatively easy time deciding on Edward Hopper as this month's artist. I did
not have an easy time deciding on which painting I wanted to highlight. Because of that, and because I will need to share some of his other works to help illustrate my thoughts and feelings about Hopper, I will post some of his other paintings in this blog. (For those of you who have happened upon this blog without going through my profile, go to my profile to see the selected painting -…

Over the summer I've met and talked with an impressive group of people. These people, often represented only by a picture and their own words, are Nerdfighters. This is why they pwn.
- Because they constantly encourage me to think and question.
- Because they have an amazing sense of humor and make me actually Laugh Out Loud.
- Because, despite having many interests in common, they all are unique and have introduced me to their own passions.
- Because they play word…

I've decided to go with a more modern artwork for this second blog. I love going to galleries and museums, but sadly I don't get the chance to much lately. That's why it was so cool to discover this artist and her work in an article in the Oct./Nov.'07 issue of
Bust magazine.
Her work embraces and is inspired by humor, femininity, science, and aeronautics. Many of her other pieces capture motion, a transformation of explosion. They include
Bride… Continue

Warning:This blog contains large pictures, videos, and links. It may take a little while to load.
Christian the Heretic tagged me to do this survey. I've been spending less time on the internet and ning lately so I'm a little behind in getting it done. However, I've had many hot celebrities floating around in my head thanks to this survey and I finally had to sit down and just finish it. And since I not only like to put off projects, I like to increase their difficulty, I've added…

1. Do you like blue cheese?
It's not my favorite cheese but I enjoy it now and then, preferably as a dressing.
2. Have you ever smoked?
No, and I never will. I like having the ability to taste and smell thank you.
3. Do you own a gun?
No. Not interested in owning one either.
4. What flavor Kool Aid was your favorite?
I wasn't really a big Kool Aid fan as a kid and it wasn't something my mom bought me. I had it at…

Well it's not really a club. I just couldn't think of any other way to say it. Basically, I'm putting a challenge to myself to post a favorite art piece (it could be a sculpture, a photograph, a drawing, maybe even a video) on my NF page every month or so. I will then write a blog about the piece. It may be academic, it may be emotional, it could even be a rant. I just want to use it as a reminder to myself that this is part of me I need to nurture. I'd also love to hear any comments or…

Since many Nerdfighters are fond of language and word games I thought I'd post one of my favorite play-on-words stories. I'm copying this from an old printed paper I've had for ever. It has no writer credited but looking it up online has produced the name Archie Campbell so all credit goes to him. Enjoy and feel free to share any similar stories in comments.

In a flurry of internet activity I have gone and gotten myself a Twitter account. I'm not sure what this means in my life, if the universe as I know it will change irrevocably, but I'm taking the risk. I'm not even entirely sure how or why Twitter works. Anyone out there have any experiences with this, good or bad? I do find that it feels a bit like a life version of one of the word games I love so on the ning.
My entire feeling about internet activities (YouTube, social networking, blogs)…

I've had to deal with insomnia and sleep problems for a large part of my life, but I'm feeling the need to talk about it now because the last couple of weeks I've had some intense sleep, or lack of sleep, experiences. Many of my family and friends are going through some big changes lately and my life has changed with them. This has added confusion to my circadian rhythms. I've had a few nights where sleep just won't come near me. I have a constant chatter in my head and yet I seem to be hitting…

While I have filled many a journal with random thought ramblings I've never delved into actual blogging so this is a first for me. I've also started a blog on blogspot but I haven't decided quite what I'm going to do with it yet. For now I'll just say that I first found Brotherhood 2.0 when I was reading Meg Cabot's blog (which I love because she always makes me laugh) and saw the post "John Green Is Not A Pornographer." Despite being something of a YA fan I hadn't really heard of him before…
