You know those wind things that collect energy from the wind? Well, xkcd had a comic about them a while back that I found mildly funny and then dismissed (link: http://xkcd.com/556/ ). I mean, never having seen the turbine things in real life I couldn't really relate.
However, on my drive back from Californialandness, I came across them. the only thing I could think was:
HOLY SHIT THOSE ARE SCARY.
I mean, way out there scary. I don't mean man-with-a-knife-chasing-you-down-a-dark-alley scary, I m…

it’s all too true
that
our image
is horrific
a nation
of wealthy
ignorant
of poverty
within our own
but don’t be
too hasty
to scoff
at us
as a people
don’t judge
a book
by it’s cover
they say
don’t judge

by their
more publicized
aspects
I ask
the world
I beg of
the world
please
don’t write us off just yet

across the table
representatives
of time
of days past
wasted
of todays’ joys
fleeting
of tomorrows’ promise
hopeful
an explanation
of sorts

we call
life
a game of predetermined fate
controlled?

free
for us
to determine

of luck
the future is

at first you pretend
not to care

life-consuming

opening it

that rush of
disappointment
of sorrow
of regret
soon to be replaced
by the dull agony
of heartbreak

and longer
until
oh what the hell I’ll just open it…

First off: How does he mean, 'moderator'? The word itself makes me a bit nervous (although I will admit that they would prevent the ning from becoming like *cough* a certain place *cough* on 4chan, but it wouldn't ever do that, right?). Moderator implies censorship, which is something I'm pretty much really against.
Maybe I'm overreacting. I'm not asking to be chosen, I have no interest in the position. I'm just curious to why we need one. I mean, sure, there are dozens upon dozens (upon fuckin'…

Dear Mr. Tennant,
Does the doctor have an unlimited supply of tampons on the TARDIS? We were just wondering because most of you companions are female.
Cheers,
Fred and Eleanor
PS We're pretty sure you're not the one to ask, but you know people who know things, so...
PPS Wheil you're at it, tell those people (presumably the writers) that Fred thinks that the thirteenth doctor's body should burn with gallifrey when he dies.

What is love?
Love (1) is often portrayed as something tragic, full of heartbreak (2) and drama. In fact. many are determined to avoid it due to the horrible happenings that surround it. It has been said that where ever love goes, death follows (3). Shakespeare(4) was a big fan of tragic (5) and unconditional love (6) (7).
In literature, tragic love is used with unconditional love (8) as a way to mislead the general population into believing in it (9). These stories usually f…

Quite a few times I have been mistaken for a guy on the ning. Sure, Fred is primarily a male name, but methinks the icon is rather feminine.
Oy.
Do I sound like a guy? I'm pretty sure I talk like a girl.

The moment I really understood what the Pledge of Alligence was, I stopped saying it. Why would I pledge my loyalty to a country that I do not believe in?
But tomorrow, on the fifth of November, I am going to school. I will walk into French class, and I will sit down. And when the announcements come on, and the receptionist says "Please rise for the pledge and then learn something.", I will.
For the first time in my life I fully believe in my country. I can see clearly now what we can do as a pe…

"Being human really sucks" I muttered as I pulled a thorn out of my foot. "The council could've made me a cloud, or a lightning, or hey! Not even changed me! But no. They had to go and make me human." I was walking through a forest somewhere in the north western hemisphere. The council had been kind enough to give me clothes, but shoes? Yeah right.

I know, I know, it's not November yet.

Hey y'all,
You know that happy, “OMG thank you,
God Author” grin you get on your face when the character you wanted to die dies? Well, when I was reading page 704 of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows I happened to find that grin sitting on my face. Capslock!Angsty!Harry was gone, and the world could continue on to pwn Voldemort on it’s own.
I’m not saying I hate Harry Potter. It’s quite the contrary. Harry Potter is one of my all-time favourite series. I love it. However, I am rather a…
