NaNoWriMo and Inspiration from other books

November sees the biggest writing event of the year - National Novel Writing Month or NaNoWriMo. Professional writers, amateur writers, anyone can join. The goal? To finish a 50,000 word novel within the 30 days of November, not worrying too much at this stage about quality - just write all the words down in November and stress about editing and whipping it into shape another time.

I've always sort of wanted to take part, it sounds like such… Continue

Spooky books for Halloween

I love Halloween. (At least here in the Northern hemisphere) The days are getting shorter and things get darker earlier, colder. With the leaves turning and the wind howling, it's the perfect time to curl up with a blanket and read a really scary book. Here are some spooky suggestions for what to read around Halloween. Ghosts

Do you believe in ghosts? Would you be willing to spend the night in a haunted house?*

I don't believe or not believe in ghosts. But ghost stories creep me

And as always, if you have any suggestions for what you'd like to see in these weekly posts, please do leave me a comment or message!

So, I feel like we're still getting to know… Continue

Vote for the Winning Mockingjay blurbs and Banned Books

I am absolutely kicking myself for not mentioned Banned Books week in last week's post. Every year, people celebrate our freedom to read by reading banned books. This year, this celebration took place last week between 25 September - 2 October. So, I just missed it. Even so, we should always be appreciative and show our support by reading banned books. Nobody should have that right to censor what we are able to read. Most books are banned for explicit language or sexual content. Some are banned… Continue

Books I can't believe I haven't read

I saw this on someone else's blog and thought it

looked like fun. The top ten books that I can't believe I haven't read

yet. I decided to limit the list to books that I've had on my TBR

shelves for ages and haven't yet read instead of the ten out of every

book available.

In no particular order -

1. Any book by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, but especially Love in the Time of Cholera and Hundred Years of Solitude - can't tell… Continue
