In which John discusses the world's largest balls--of stamps, of paint, of twine, and more. Such roadside attractions were once important in Paper Towns. Now I get to use them for this at least.

I have also made the long trek to Darwin, MN to pay homage to the ball of twine there. We had a little chat with the lady at the museum there, and she made a comment about how the guy who did it was only able to do it because he wasn't married as a wife would not put up with that. Another point of interest- that's not his most interesting achievement. He made a giant set of functioning wooden tweezers out of progressively smaller sets of functioning wooden tweezers all nested together into a big wooden tweezer puzzle. (I think they were tweezers. They might have been clippers or pliers or something.)

One of my friends told me that they tried to drop a humongous rubber band ball from an airplane, and when it hit the ground it didn't bounce. It exploded, and rubber bands went everywhere. It left a crater. I wished I could have seen that.
