Nerdfighters

In conjunction with the news articles going up, keeping our members informed with what's going on around the world and so on, I feel I'm obligated to hark on about the happenings in ye auld Britain. Now, if anyone's older than their teens, and they happen to be British; you know what the Tories were up to when they were around last time. Old Maggie never got the name Iron lady without reason, after all. She busted the unions, sold off our privatised industries and generally fecked the country.

~ That's our Maggie! ~

~ Isn't she just lovely? ~
~ And that's on a good day

Why am I dragging up old news, re-opening old wounds and generally talking about past issues which should well have been forgotten? Well my dear Nerdians, I do so because the Tory sod in West Minster is doing the exact same thing. The only difference is he is able to write up - and pass - a policy to bring back these idiotic notions into the twenty-first century.

~ Hisss~
~ That's a nice everything you haz there... ~

Now, let us get our history straight. If you're not old enough to remember, the downfall of Maggie's government came when she decided to introduce a new tax. Basically, if you had more people in your house; the more you were taxed. The size of your building no longer mattered, all that mattered truly in the end; was how many sods were under the roof. Now, this might sound reasonable, smart even. But allow me to point out something simple. Who is more likely to have more children? The poor and uneducated, or the rich and knowledgeable? Yeah, exactly.

You want class warfare? These Tories had prided themselves on their ability to declare and win that war oh so many times. Winston Churchill and the Miners, Maggie and the Welsh coal industry, Maggie and the nurses union.. on and on. This new tax however, was the final straw.

~ No, this isn't a picture from last years riots ~
~ It's one of the 1990 riots ~

~Funny, Tories have a habit at provoking this stuff.~
~Wouldn't you agree? ~

The Poll tax was first introduced into Scotland as a test run if you will. Some believed it due to the fact that Scotland voted Labour - the main Liberal party - and this was Maggie's way of busting our chops over it. Did it go down well? Did the 'Iron Lady' command and conquer? Erm. Not quite.

By the time the tax was introduced into the rest of the UK, a millions Scots were refusing to pay the tax, with a further three/four million joining from down south. Clearly, the poor were biting back. Soon thereafter Maggie was long gone and ousted from her own position as Prime Minister and the tax changed.

~~~~~~
Now, why am I giving you a history lesson on British politics? Well two reasons.
If you pay attention to the news then you may have noticed plans to introduce a two tier system in England regarding education. This meaning that if you were not the smartest cookie when you were younger you get dumped in the lower tier. However if you grew up in an affluent household you will end up in the higher tier. Do I really need to point out the class warfare beasty rearing it’s ugly head again?
Who is more likely to support their child to achieve their potential? A family who can spare money to hire a tutor, or one who lacks the funds to buy basic food necessities? Honest to God/Allah/Dave J do these cretins ever learn?
Now, after all that.
They're thinking about removing housing benefits to those under the age of twenty five..
Yeah, because that totally wont hit those in poverty...
~Even this guy has given up.~
I hope you enjoyed your British politics 101.
Not my favourite music, but thanks. After being reminded that our country is not only headed the way of Greece and Ireland, we also are stuffing the upper classes with cash again, I kinda needed that.
I think that David Cameron and all his pals should go for an afternoon of electroshock, then maybe they live for a year like us "plebs". If he is in favour of this country's wellbeing maybe we should leave him the bill when he gets kicked out for the damages he's done. What was wrong with Gordon Brown?
