This is a blog post I made at my other profile, Snapes_Angel_23. I was tagged there, and I replied there, but now I'll post it here, because this is where my friends are!!! :D
NOTE: I am re-typing this entire entry because it logged me out the first time. :Is mad:
Alas, Nerdfighter Tori has tagged me (I wondered if it would eventually get to me, lol). And so, I will tell thee five interesting facts about me, since I don't know any of you personally!
Random fact number one:
I have an alias profile here on the Ning, known as MissScarlet. http://nerdfighters.ning.com/profile/MissScarlet Find me on there and friend me! I like friends! I had to create that one because I had problems creating this one. I'm most active on MissScarlet, so look me up there!
Random fact number two:
I actually wrote my undergraduate thesis on Harry Potter, specifically, "The Treatment of Death in the Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling." (Note obsession with the series in general). My committe was highly impressed with it, which tickled me pink, and I even got an A+ on it. The professor that I worked with directly told me to send it on to J. K. Rowling herself, which I did. The woman from Scholastic who responded to me in a letter was very enthusiastic and gracious, and told me she'd send it on to Ms. Rowling herself. The UK publisher (whose company name escapes me at the moment) told me they didn't want to pass it on to her lest I influence her writing. I was quite exasperated at this notion because first, how could little old me influence HER, and second, the letter was dated February 1st, 2007 - the day we got the release date for the final book. I doubt I would have done much influencing at that point. Perhaps I'll update it and send it to her again - or publish it in a scholarly journal, which I did consider.
Random fact number three:
I was actually born with a mild case of cerebral palsy. I was born not breathing and apparently it took quite a lot of time and effort to start me breathing again. I'm amazed they didn't give up on me! Sometimes it still affects me; My memory fails me often, ranging from forgetting to do the laundry to forgetting important dates and other things for home and school. When I was little I used to walk into walls because my brain didn't tell my body to move fast enough, even though I could see the wall coming. Other than that, I'm perfectly normal...well, I have my eccentrics, but who doesn't? ;D
Random fact number four:
My great great grandmother, Sophie Martin, was actually a co-founder for an organization called the Indian Defense League of America. She and other important Native American figures at the time founded this organization, and she and the other founders have plaques or statues at Prospect Point in the Niagara Falls New York State Park.
Random fact number five:
Since I can't think of anything else more interesting, when I was fourteen I had to have three surgeries to remove a pilonidal cyst (not sure of the spelling there) removed from the tail of my spine. Apparently some people are born with it, and I had aggravated it over a period of time in my gym classes. All of a sudden I had this large bruise on my back, with a white bump in the center, and I couldn't bend even slightly forward for the life of me. It had nearly wrapped around my spine and paralyzed me. One trip to the emergency room, three major surgeries and countless minor surgeries later, there's still a risk that it will come back (which is why I needed three surgeries - the thing just wouldn't die!) but the risk is very very minimal.
And so..there's me in a nutshell. Remember to find me at http://nerdfighters.ning.com/profile/MissScarlet because that's where I'll be!
