So I got another camera and can take photos again!! Yay!!
I discovered something in a drawer the other day that I had forgotten about. It was an art project I did about 8 years ago. It was inspired by Judy Chicago's "Dinner Party" of the '80s.
Dinner Party I was sick in bed for about a week and I pasted up a bunch of paper plates with images I'd been collecting from magazines. They were all images that I'd found had contributed and continue to contribute to our society's screwed up view of women. They were culled from Vogue, Bazaar & high end dream house magazines. I'd also been collecting "captions." So I collaged up these paper plates, dinner size & salad size and bought some clear glass plates to lay over the top of them (so we could actually eat off of them) and invited some women friends to a Dinner Party. I had a pink tablecloth & napkins and a large party store hula girl hung on the front door.
There was much hilarity and much groaning and much discussion and much drinking and a good time was had by all. A friend that was about 75 years old at that time said, "These are really depressing." I said, "Don't shoot the messenger. I'm just an unbiased reporter." :-)
I've just taken photos of them all and I'll put them here. The smooth edged ones are the big plates and the rippled edged ones are the salad plates.
