Well, I was able to go to the grand rapids greens brothers and secret sister maureen library showing. Most of this will be mentioned in the brothers next video I am sure, but I want to put down my thoughts.
highlights:
1. a few more than planned.
The small room it was in was packed with people, one headcount was around 50 or so. the brothers revealed they were expecting around 10. once again, someone misunderestimated the nerdfighters. People were from all over the state, including two from Illinois, a nerdfighter and a newbie who had never heard of brotherhood 2.0, who got dragged along so the nerdfighters mom would let her borrow the car. Also, do to the number I did not get a copy of hanks cd, as he only made 10 copies....
2. Ask and ye shall recieve
They were expecting a small circle of people and chatting and such. SSM did not have a copy of her book, so when they decided to read from their books, they asked if anyone had a copy of Suite Scarlett. About 3-5 copies were produced. Well, hank can't play his songs, he has no guitar...sure enough, someone had one in their vehicle. We did fall through the third time slightly, they wanted a laptop with internet, there was a laptop, just no internet.
3. nerdfighters give back
A few gifts were given to them of course. I thought of bringing peeps or strawberry hill, but did not get the peeps, and did not think the library would like we hauling around wine. But other people gave silly string, a puppy sized elephant, and a birthday card for hank, that featured that picture of giraffes...you know the one.
4. we can't sing either
Hank performed the nerdfighter like song, and then he did his signature number, "accio deathly hallows". almost at once everyone started singing along. near the end one person ever did a tribute with a lighter. (not recommended). He commented something to the effect that with us all singing he did not need to remember the chords as much
5. if the scavenger hunt never landed near you...
I had no book to sign, I somehow thought they would be selling books, so I figured to buy one there. that did not appear to happen (or if they were they ran out) so wanting something signed, in honor of the scavenger hunt I now have a dollar bill signed by the brothers. (I plan to scan it in and post later) Also, when asked when the punishment will be announced, they said they were going to do that next video, but instead they will most likely cover this event
6. maybe more?
due to turnout it was hinted they way do this sort of thing more often
7. parting
After the event my brother and eye went to some benches to finish our food. shortly after a small car drove past with the brothers in it, they waved to some nfs and then to us, then rolled up the window, at slow speed. not that I take doctrinal advice from them, but it somehow reminded me of years ago when I was at a stadium when the pope slowly drove by in his pope mobile waving to the crowds.
it was great, hopefully now that they have an inkling of their drawing power they will be better prepared for future events, if one occurs near you and you cn get there, go!
