Back in the old days when I took typing, it was because my handwriting was sooo bad I figured I'd better have a better method available. It still shocks me how bad my handwriting is. At the time, typing class was stocked with girls, because the only reason to learn to type was because you were training to become a secretary, and only girls would become a secretary. It suited me fine, since I liked having girls around, but many people wondered what a boy was doing in the class. Sexist, but what are you going to do? The funny thing was that they were teaching us to type from a page into a typewriter. Not from our brains into a typewriter. Or a computer. Who do you think you are, Buck Rogers? In college, I could type better than many of the women, because their parents discouraged them from learning to type, because they didn't want them to become secretaries. Now the teach kids of all genders to type in elementary school, because everyone expects to type things into computers. They still grumble about penpersonship, but I think they really want the kiddos to type.

omg those are awesome one's mel. i adore your printing! i never ever had good penmanship. in grade three during long hand writing class the teacher sighed and said 'just print dear, just print' i often wonder i the reason i ever got good grades was because i was very verbally articulate. heaven only knows they couldn't read my handwriting lol.

Ha ha, I can't read my handwriting now either, no one in the family can!
It was an ugly house though, asbestos siding, 80 year old farmhouse with one teeny bathroom for all to share....
I'll keep digging, but I think there's little else......
