Okay. So I wanted to blog about this hours ago, and in reality I should be writing three seperate papers for my history class but I cant help but take time out of my day to speak up and bring somethiong up that absolutely has been tearing my soul apart since I last saw it and it was brought to my attention yesterday evening.
I havent gotten involved in a cause in a while, Im not exactly one who gets grabbed very easily. I am a person who see's that there are a lot of bad things that happen in this world and while it would be nice to fix all of them, not only would it drive one to the verge of insanity but it is absolutely, and obviously, impossible. And so I have found through my own experience that its better well suited for me to enact my efforts through small acts of kindness to various faces that I pass in this lifetime and leave the big stuff up to people with more pull...Like celebrity's.
I think that was why last night when I was flipping through the channels it was an even bigger shock to see Hayden Panatierre ,clad in a wetsuit, crawling hysterical out of a blood soaked shore. It looked like something out of a horror movie. Then the camera cuts to footage of dolphins being speared and killed brutally.
This footage was filmed in a cove off the coast of Japan, and shows the fishermen encase the opening of the cover with netting to trap the dolphins. After they trap them they use hooks, spears, knives, and other weapons to slaughter the beautiful creatures. Here is a video that was shot and edited by the Save The Dolphins Coalition to raise awareness. I must warn that this footage is upsetting and somewhat graphic and innappropriate for young children.

The meat is sold as a delicacy in Japanese SuperMarkets labeled as Whale or Dolphin meat. Fishermen also say that they have been slaughtering the dolphins because they eat all the fish, This however has been scientifically proved to be a false arguement. Even worse, the Japanese Government actually allows this and it is 100% legal. Now new information has been brought up that the US is actually helping fund these Bloody Brigades in order to obtain "Show Dolphins" to use in aquariums and "Swim with the Dolphin Programs" around the world. According to thier website, there as actually one instance where Dolphins were shipped from a drive fishery, supplied from a hunt that the US funded, To a Dolphinarium in Europe. Once in the th Dolphnarium, they were traded for two Killer Whales, which were shipped to the US.
In other cases of this the mammals were sent to different locations in Japan or around the world to the " Swim with the Dolphins" Programs, or they were enisted into the US Navy.
Imagine having the choice of being killed along with the rest of your family, or watching them be killed brutally and be sent off to some other place where you become the cash cow for a corporation to filander off of. Which option sounds better to you?
The fact here, which we have literally staring us down in contempt is what we have in every other situation...We have the power to stop this...Each and Every one of us...Its just a matter of being heard and getting our point across to stop this pure evil rein on this species.
So speak up,get heard, get your point across, and!
You all have the power change the world, So GET TO IT!

Like a bat, dolphins use echolocation to navigate and hunt, bouncing high-pitched sounds off of objects, and listening for the echoes.
The greatest threat to whales, dolphins and porpoises is entanglement in fishing gear, also known as bycatch. If current trends continue unabated, several cetacean species and many populations will be lost in the next few decades.
Because the spinner dolphin swims with the yellowfin tuna, they have been slaughtered by the hundreds of thousands in the purse-seine tuna fisheries, which has produced the controversy that led to the enactment of national and international laws for dolphin safe tuna.
The maximum age for bottlenose dolphins is between 40 and 50 years.
Dolphins are highly social, playful, curious and intelligent. They live in groups or families called Pods.
Each dolphin has its own signature whistle to identify itself.
Dolphins sleep by resting one half of their brain at a time so that one eye is always open. This allows them to rise to the surface to breathe and to protect themselves from predators.
A baby dolphin is called a calf. Baby dolphins are born tail first and suckle from their mother for up to 4 years. Mother dolphins produce milk that is extremely rich in fat, often up to 50 percent.
