Nerdfighters

In Columbus on Tuesday! Tues Oct 20 6:30pm at the Main Library (96 S. Grant
Ave. Columbus, OH 43215) Nerdfighter gatherings FTW!

ALSO there will be a smaller and quieter gathering Tues Oct 20 from 1pm- 2pm at the Hilliard Branch Library (4772 Cemetery Rd.
Hilliard, OH 43026)

In which John discusses the (wasn't-in-a) balloon boy, Falcon Heene, and what the sad story of the Heene family says about the lame but universal yearning for fame and attention.

People want fame because they want to be known. We want fame because people will be interested in us and care about us. We want fame because we are so scared that one day we won't exist and only the people who we have made an impression on will remember us. Being famous means that we will live on - be remembered.

I also agree with Paul William Cookie, but I also think that we want fame so that we will be remembered, because if we don't amount to anything, if we don't do anything that makes us special, if we just live, then there is no use living. If no one remembers us, then its as if we never existed...

I agree with paul william cooke. We see celebrities in their big cars, and bigger houses. We see them, and we want to be them. I see you in the little box, and i see this website where i hang out too much, And i want to be like you. I want to have my own website with a million fan girl/boys. I want internet fame. (and a tinsy bit of real life fame, i.e. a book) heck i just want any type of fame. Even if its fame at my school, popularly known as popularity.

In answer to your non rhetorical question, I think we want fame because it makes us feel loved. We see how other people love celebrities, and we want to be loved by millions of strangers.

Youtube is not allowing me to post a reply to this video (or maybe it's just not letting me see it and my reply went up three times. Technology makes fools of us all.)

Anyway, I wrote a blog post in response to this video: link
